I know it’s been awhile since I have shared a Random Act of Kindness but International Random Acts of Kindness Week is February 9-15, 2015. While I haven’t stopped doing Random Acts of Kindness, I just haven’t shared them since they didn’t seem extraordinary enough to share. However this past week I came across a post while experiencing the rabbit hole that is Facebook last Saturday.
It lead me to the website Donors Choose where teachers can ask for certain supplies like books, technology or for field trips. You can also choose to find a class near you to help which was what I did.
As a very avid reader I couldn’t imagine my life without reading everyday. For kids it can open up their imagination, offer them an escape, or just show them different ways life could be. For kids in a high poverty area that could possibly be overlooked, one teacher decided to find them books that are easier to read for their reading level but wasn’t childish. What a gift for those kids.
Thanks to the Kernels of Kindness grant I received I was able to make a decent sized donation to the cause. A few hours later they reached their goal. What an amazing feeling to be able to help those kids find the joy in reading.
It is so evident how much this teacher cares from the comments and posts she provided to each donor. Such a great cause.
Do you plan on doing a Random Act of Kindness this week?
Are you considering doing your own Act of Kindness? If not, what is stopping you? Grab a button if you would like to spread the word. The change that we seek in others has to first come from within. This year I hope you decide to Be the Change You Seek.
