Random Acts of Kindness + Asking for Advice

When I went to Christmas By The Sea in December I asked my best friends and Mom advice on my blog. What I should continue to do, what I should change, any suggestions for new posts and my friend/sister Lynn suggested a Random Acts of Kindness series. She felt it would fit in with the positivity of my blog and who I am as a person. I loved this idea and I want to bring it into the new year and not just during Christmas. So I am planning on starting a series. I am not sure if I will do this weekly or monthly but I will be sharing different Random Acts of Kindness either done by me or by others. I might even turn it into a link-up, we will see.

Here are some of the Acts I will be completing in the coming weeks and months:

1. Bring Coffee to a local Hospitals Nursing Station

2. Knit hats for Cancer Patients and Preemies

Angel Babies Blog: Knit Hat Patterns (and a BIG link to other great stuff)

3. Pass Out bags to the Homeless or Drop Off at a shelter (bags will include toiletry items)

4. Make fleece jackets and donate to the Animal Shelter

SmartPak Fleece Dog Coat - thinking of getting this as a liner for under Finn's waterproof jacket.

5. Tape a few bucks to the outside of a RedboxΒ  so they can enjoy a free movie or two

6. Place rolls of quarters on top of washing machines in a laundromat

So here is where you all come in….

What Random Acts of Kindness would you perform?Β

I am still working on a title for the series but I came up with these 2 designs for a possible button. What do you think, prefer one over the other? Have another name you would use?change

Option One

Β Option Two

I would love your feedback and opinion.

  1. OMG i love all of this!! this is so incredibly sweet. i love the first button.

  2. LOVE THIS IDEA KERRY! The first button is also my favorite. Are you doing one of those this weekend?

  3. I really like option #1! This is such a wonderful idea, you are such a great person!

  4. awww I love these ideas! #2 is so sweet! They all are really.

  5. I agree, I like the first button (plus yellow, duh!). I didn’t know that fleece jackets for dogs were a thing but that’s really cool! I ran to the grocery store last night and needed some snacks so I was in the cracker aisle. Someone had left a clipped coupon from the newspaper on the shelf next to some crackers. I figured it was expiring that day but nope, not til March. I thought it was nice to just leave it behind so if you get the paper, maybe you could leave 5-10 of them around your grocery store with a little post-it to say enjoy?

    • Yes, yellow is a must! Yes, especially here in the winter. Dogs with thin coats or small dogs can’t take the cold just as much as us humans can’t either. The coupon thing is a great idea! Thanks!

  6. Love this idea. You’re too sweet.

  7. this is so wonderful!! I need to start doing more of this type of thing!

  8. lindsey sue says:

love this idea! and the hats for the preemies! well that’s just fabulous. our little preemie has some knitted hats and they really just helped me feel normal when she was too tiny for clothes, her head was always in fashion! πŸ™‚

    • Thank you! So glad the knitted hats helped you and your precious baby! Hope she is bigger, better, faster, and stronger!

  9. What a wonderful idea, so kind!
I like the second option the best πŸ™‚

  10. Loveeeeeeeeee this!!!! I plan on leaving a Starbucks gift card in my mailbox today just for our mail guy. Thanks for the encouragement to do this today!

    • That is an awesome gift and I am sure they will love it! You are so welcome and I will be posting lots more ideas too.

  11. Great ideas!

    I vote for option 2.

My Relay For Life team is named Random Acts of Kindness after my BFF’s dad, who when he died asked that we all just perform RAoK in his honor.

  12. Michelle Meagher says:

First button for sure! This is a great thing you are doing Kerry!
It’s funny that I just read this, I just paid for a women behind be in the dunks drive thru. She was in her car and I could see/hear her kiddos screaming and crying. God knows I have been there before. All it takes is one small act to help make this world a brighter place. Kudos to you for your efforts πŸ™‚

    • Thank you Michelle! Good for you for paying for her Dunks, I am sure it made her day a little bit brighter! That was really kind of you! Thank you!

  13. I hope those quarters find their way to my laundry room πŸ™‚ But seriously, this is a great idea!

    • Haha!! Your post actually helped me come up with that one! I have a laundromat right down the street by my house so this will be an easy one. Thank you so much!

  14. This is why you are one of my favorites. I love your heart. proving you can be awesome and nice!

  15. LOVE this idea so much!! You have such a wonderful heart and spirit!

  16. Oh I love this! You are so sweet!!

  17. SUCH a great idea! Making other people’s days makes MINE! πŸ™‚

  18. This is such great idea! I’m excited to see what you’ll do in the future! I love the first picture!
Yellow is such a positive and happy color: perfect for this post series! I would also recommend you make it a link-up! I would love to add this kind of aspect on my blog!
    Good Luck,
    xoxo, Lizzy

  19. I think this is a fantastic idea! both buttons are great, but I’m kinda diggin’ the second one.

  20. Love the whole idea! I like the 1st button too.

  21. What a fantastic idea! I love it πŸ™‚

  22. I love this! It’s such a good idea. I would be so happy if I found a dollar taped to redbox for me to use !

And I love both buttons but the second one is my favorite!

  23. I love this idea/series! Random acts of kindness is on my 30 under 30. About 6 days before Christmas I took a whole day and volunteered at the local food pantry. It was a great experience and they really needed the help. I like the second button =)

    • That was great that you volunteered I am sure they really appreciated the help! Love that it is on your list! Do you have other acts planned?

  24. What a very thoughtful link-up. Doing some extra random acts of kindness is always a great idea – I’ll totally participate! I’d like to spend some time visiting a care-giving home to start.

  25. I think I like #2. What a great idea for a series!

  26. You’re a good egg!! Personally, I loved the idea of the fleece coats for dogs. you’ve got me thinking now of how I can randomly kind-bomb. Thanks for the inspiration! x

    • Thank you, too kind! Especially now in the deep Winter and the negative temps they really need them. So glad to have got you thinking on ways to help! πŸ™‚

  27. Such a great idea! The redbox idea is so easy. Very pay it forward!

  28. This is such a great idea! What a wonderful way to pay it forward. You have some fabulous ideas to try out. I love both options, but I’m inching toward option 2. Good luck with your project! I can’t wait to see your results.

    • Thank you! I am so excited to be doing it and I will be sharing it too. Hopefully it sparks some people to join in.

  29. Love this! You rock!

    And i like option 2! πŸ™‚
