Sleepy Sick Sleep

Monday, is that you? I know I had a three day weekend but it still went by too quickly. I took Friday off because I have a lot of vacation time to take, and I had been feeling run down all week with body aches. I was really glad to take the day off because even when I thought to do laundry I couldn’t get the energy to do it. I am starting to feel better so that is good news at least.

I Did

So needless to say just about all of Friday was spent on the couch. I spent the majority of it reading the book The Nowhere Girl and taking naps.

Saturday I made this roasted turnip with bacon side dish, which I served with Kielbasa of course. Toward the evening I tried to get some errands done. I had to return some sneakers that I got last weekend at Kohl’s and apparently they never rang it up so after checking the security cameras and it was their fault they gave me a credit so I could pick a different pair. I also had some Kohl’s cash so I got a new purse and wallet for practically pennies.

weekend

After Kohl’s I went to Ulta with a list. I know (hangs head) but I had to replace some items and then grabbed a few I wasn’t expecting to get.

Sunday, aside from walking Seamus I didn’t leave the house. I did get the cleaning done though. I mostly rested some more, catching up on my DVR’d shows and finished another book. It was really short and it was Christmas themed which was fun. The ending was rushed but it was a cute romance, I have read better though. Tis’ the season.

Seamus Sightings

Seamus was amazing this weekend. I didn’t go far from the couch and while he isn’t much for cuddling he is pretty awesome at staying close and staring at me to make sure I am ok. He moved his blanket around from under the coffee table to the side of it so he could get the best view. When he wasn’t sleeping of course.

Those nice decorative pillows, yeah those lasted about an hour before Seamus ransacked them. Oh well!

  1. Ahh I’m sorry you haven’t kicked this sickness yet – hoping this week is better for you!! Love your new purse and yay to some ulta goodies!! Hope Monday is easy for you! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

  2. What a nightmare at Kohl’s. I would have been horrified. How long did the ordeal take to check the security cameras? At least you got some sort of remuneration. That first picture of Seamus…melts my heart. What a sweet face. Have a great week!

    • It took roughly 20 minutes to get it all sorted out. I get it, since it didn’t show on my receipt they could have made me pay for it. Thank you, he was such a good pup and watched over me all weekend.

  3. So sorry you’ve been feeling under the weather, but I’m glad you were able to rest a little bit and are feeling better. I can’t believe Kohl’s went through security footage before giving you a refund or store credit! I’m glad you found some cute things in the end- love that striped bag! And yay for Ulta goodies– what is that bye bye pores thing?

    • It was so nice to just rest and not rush around. I offered to pay too but I guess since it wasn’t on the receipt they wanted to make sure I didn’t steal it. Haha! It was worth it in the end. It is a Translucent powder that is supposed to minimize pores. It was super white though it washed me out I had to add bronzer so I didn’t look like Casper the Ghost!

  4. I have been gone for so long and missed you and your blog eek. Hope you feel better lovely! I want a nice Christmas read so maybe Ill pick that book up!

  5. Linda Sheridan says:

I am glad you got to rest. And shop!!! Love the Seamus pictures !
Have a good and energy-filled week.

    Love, Steph’s Momma

  6. glad you had that extra day off–sounds like your body needed it. glad to hear you are on the mend. that’s no fun being sick.

  7. at least you’re starting to feel a bit better…it sucks so much being sick but at least you got a lot of RnR (well deserved, too!)

    • Thank you. It was so nice and even when my mind told me to get stuff done I was like nope time to rest. Which never happens for me.

  8. Oh I hope you are feeling better. Everyone I know (around here) is sick. I sort of feel like something is going around. I think snuggling with Seamus would make anyone feel better. haha Happy Monday! Hope you feel better this week.

    • Thank you. Yes it got really cold lately and I have been burning the candle at both ends for awhile to it was inevitable. He was so cute, he wouldn’t let me go anywhere that he couldn’t see me. Happy Monday!

  9. I actually love Kohl’s because they will pretty much do whatever you want if you just say what it is you want. That sounds so bratty, but I can’t see Dick’s sporting goods having such good customer service. Also, is that lavender lipstick?! You have to post a photo!

    • Yes I even offered to pay for it, but she was like we’ll handle it. Well okay! Haha! It is a nice lavender. I will try and do a swatch.

  10. Love the purse – it is a crossbody bag? I’m on the hunt for one – especially for Christmas shopping. Must have BOTH HANDS available πŸ™‚

  11. Three day weekends are great! Sorry to hear that you’re feeling sick. There must be something going around because I woke up this morning with a delightful cold (and by “woke up”, I mean “emerged from my NyQuil coma because the sore throat I had all weekend that was preventing me from sleeping just wasn’t cutting anymore”).

I have never eaten a turnip. To my knowledge, anyway.

    • Oh man, hope you start feeling better too. It must be going around. They are so good and a great replacement for potatoes. They taste very similar and much healthier.

  12. What a fun weekend! It’s always nice to have an extra day to relax. Also, what is it about making lists for Ulta, and then all of the sudden ending up with other items? Haha I’m definitely guilty as charged on that one as well.

    • It was so nice since it has been hectic lately. I have a lot of vacation time to use up too. It happens every time!! I swear I though making the list would help me stay on task, NOPE!! Haha!

  13. I hope you feel feeling better and better! Was Nowhere Girl any good? Love your new purse!

    • Thank you, getting better! It was decent. The ending seemed to drift off and at parts it was slow but it was pretty good. I wouldn’t rush out and get it but it was enjoyable.

  14. Glad you were able to get the Kohls return sorted out, what a nightmare! Other than that sounds like a relaxing and productive weekend!

    • It was annoying but they really could have made me pay for them, so it was nice they gave me the credit. It was nice to get some much needed rest.

  15. Yay Kohls! I so love Kohls. I spent a lot there last week.

    I’m glad you’re feeling better.

  16. That’s so bizzaree they never charged you for the shoes in the first place! I would be so frustrated haha. At least you were able to exchange!

  17. Long weekends are fabulous! Sorry you weren’t feeling well. I wasn’t either to be honest. There is some crud going around and I got it too. Hopefully you are on the mend! I love reading Christmas books now! I am working on one myself. Glad Kohl’s gave you a credit, I love when companies back up their mistakes. Hope you have a great weekend!

    • Thank you, hope you are feeling better too. It is nice to read them now, it really gets you in the Christmas spirit. They really didn’t have to but it was really nice they stood by the error.

  18. Hope you’re feeling better by now. Kohl’s always draws me in with their never ending sales and then Kohl’s cash which makes you go back to spend more.

  19. What’s there to hang your head about on the Ulta trip?

    Feel better!

  20. I hope that you feel better soon!

  21. That dinner with the kielbasa and roasted turnips sounds amazing. Everything is better with bacon, right?!

  22. I swear, animals can tell when we don’t feel well. We always call JC our “Sexy Little Nurse” when we’re sick because he won’t leave our side either. πŸ™‚

  23. So glad you’re feeling better! Seamus looks like such a sweetie. Kohl’s is my favorite place on earth, eeeeeeeeeeee!!!

  24. I’m not sure I’ve ever eaten turnip. I’m not sure I’ve ever even noticed it in a store. But, that looks pretty dern delish. Hope you’re feeling better!

    • It is so good, I’ve had them roasted and like fries. Such a good alternative to potatoes. Much better, thank you.

  25. Sorry you’re not feeling well πŸ™ This is the time to snuggle up with a warm beverage by a fire. Great ULTA haul!

  26. aww Seamus is too adorable. my cats aren’t much for cuddles except when we are sleeping, but they seem to know when we aren’t feeling well. that striped bag is fabulous – need it in my life.
