Well things have been getting really hectic at work so I am having less and less time lately to do much. Having a fun book that made me laugh was a nice reprieve from all the stress. Mindy’s new book Why Not Me? had a lot of laughs but it had some really serious moments too.
She has such an interesting way to look at life and she pokes a lit fun at how ridiculous hollywood is and that normal woman just don’t live that way. I applaud her for being real and sharing the good and the bad.
I had no idea that she was from Massachusetts which was an awesome factoid. I love that she shared the embarrassing and not always glamorous side of her job. I also love that she talks about how it was all her hard work that got her to where she is now. That aligning herself with the right people to mentor her and to learn from was one of the things that made her successful. I really liked the stories she told and the inside look. I would have much preferred to have listened to an audiobook version than read it since you don’t get her sarcastic undertones, but it did make me want to go watch the Mindy project.
I actually ended up binge watching the whole first season last weekend. I even got sucked into an hour long interview she did with one of her best friends B.J. Novak at BookCon.

I listened to this as an audiobook, and it felt like I was just hanging out with her listening to her tell funny stories. I loved it!
Kerry says
Yes, she mentioned in the video that she wanted to write so that you felt you were just having coffee together.

This is such a nice review, it sounds like her book had a good mix of funny but still serious.
Kerry says
Yes, it had a little bit of everything! Thank you.

This is definitely on my “to read” list… I’m thinking I might do the audio version because I think it would be cool to hear it in her own voice!
Kerry says
Yes I am convinced all comedian books need to be in audio so you get the delivery of the jokes.

I love Mindy! I listened to her first book on Audible and keep up with The Mindy Project. So glad Hulu picked it up!

I admit I am totally hooked on The Mindy project now. I hope they keep it going and not just a final season.

I didn’t really care for her first one & was wondering if this one was better.
Kerry says
I liked it, I wasn’t blown away but I could read her personality and getting some tidbits of what her life really is like was interesting.

Oh I can’t wait to listen to this now! It’s in my queue from the library I just have to finish another book first. I feel like she mentioned Mass before and I feel like I can hear her saying BJ Novak in my head but maybe I can look at any word and hear her saying it in my head bwahah! Great review!
Kerry says
Thank you. I didn’t read the first book so it was a surprise to me and she doesn’t have a Boston accent at all. Those two are thick as thieves so it was a no brainer he would be mentioned. Haha! Happy Friday!

i really enjoyed her first book and this one is definitely on my list as well. hope work gets less hectic soon!
Kerry says
She is just so down to earth and well spoken. Thank you, hopefully soon.

I love her! Even though celebrity books aren’t always the best, I do want to read this one.

I think I am just so used to a story a beginning to an end. Biographies tend to be sporadic stories without a specific story. It was still really good.

I found I liked this one MUCH better than her first book. Which is weird because it’s not all that different. I feel like everyone read this book this month!
Kerry says
I did see it everywhere! I did like how real it made her seem, very down to earth.
