High Five for Friday

I can not be happier this week is over. With a very important contract shipping this week it has been really stressful. Looking forward to this weekend and getting some good running mileage in. Looking back at this past week there is much to appreciate.

 1. Babysitting my niece. Such cutness in a little package. She giggles about everything!!!

Saw It. Pinned It. Did It. – Buy 1 Get 1 Free

So I have a two fer for you this week. First up is a makeup brush cleaner. Saying this was long overdue is an understatement. I tend to forget how important it is to clean your brushes. It prevents breakouts and bacteria so it really is a must do.

 The inspiration:

In one mug mix 1 cup of warm water with 1 TBSP of Vinegar and 1 TBSP of Dish soap, fill another mug with cold water.  Rinse your makeup brush in the soapy water for about 10 seconds, rinse in the cold water then lay on towel to dry.  Voila you are done!

Now for a little V-Day decoration. My inspiration:

Since this pin was just to an Etsy shop I had to wing it. What you will need:

love 4 different colored scrapbooking paper

Mod Podge, glue, or spray adhesive

Scissors

Wooden letters (XO – Qty 2 each)

Optional – Felt hearts, tulle, flowers etc.

Instructions:

Cut Paper to size just a little larger than the letter. Paint front with Mod Podge and place the paper on top. Repeat for all letters and allow to dry.

love-1 love-2

Once dry (around 30 minutes) cut around the letters with an Exacto knife to cut off excess paper. Add any optional felt hearts, ribbon or tulle embellishments and you are done!

What do you think, worth doing it? I think I kinda like it.

Little Bit of Randomness

Randomness #1 – So my brother texted me last night to see if I could babysit my niece. Yeah not a lot of warning but hey she is cute as a button so I of course said YES!! I mean come on can you say no to those cheeks!!

niece

If you can you are dead inside! Just kidding but really totally precious, I am the godmother and Auntie so a little biased.

Randomness #2 – I try to eat as healthy as I can when I can but it doesn’t mean cutting out everything you love, it is all about finding ways to make it healthier. Right?! So this morning as a quick go to breakfast I made pancakes. SAY WHAT?! Yup, pancakes. Coconut Protein Pancakes to be exact. Oh, and only three ingredients, how is that for QUICK?!

pancake-1

pancake

Ingredients: 1 cup of Egg Whites, 2.5 TBS coconut Flour, 1/4 cup  unsweetened shredded coconut. Mix and pour like regular pancakes. Served with Sugar Free Syrup.

Randomness #3 – Since I will be out for most of the morning I wanted to be sure and have some snuggle time with my Pup Seamus. I use pup loosely as he is 7 years old, but he will always be my pup.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend and remember to keep smiling. Find the joy in the little things!

Saw It. Pinned It. Did It. – Magnetic Makeup Board

Excited for another addition of Saw It. Pinned It. Did It. I have had this project in the works for a few weeks. This DIY Makeup Board is helping to clear out my cluttered makeup drawer in my bathroom.

I am always having to move things around to find the one I want to use that day. So my inspiration for this project came from a combination of different pins.

 This one:

And this one:

The supplies you will need are:

makeup-4

  • Flat cookie sheet
  • Fabric big enough to cover the cookie sheet and wrap around the back
  • Glue Gun
  • Glue Sticks
  • Scissors
  • Magnets
  • Makeup you want to hang
  • Ribbon (not pictured)
  • Hook or picture hanger

Instructions – Cut your fabric to the size of the cookie sheet with about a 1/4 inch around to allow for it to wrap around the back. You can use spray adhesive or your glue gun and glue the fabric to the back. Pull tight to make sure the fabric lays flat.

 makeup-5

Fold over the corners and get them really flat.

Next glue your magnets to the back of your makeup tins that you want to hang on your board. Now this is where I give you my super secret, I failed my first attempt at this project. I bought some cheapo magnets from the craft store and when I glued them and attached them, the makeup slid right off the board. So I did a little more research and bought Neodymium magnets from Etsy. Neodymium is just another fancy word for wicked strong magnets. 🙂 These suckers would not budge and when they get even somewhat close together they “jump” together. I got a set of 50 for only $7.00 on Etsy.

makeup-1

makeup-2

Before I cut my ribbon I hung my hook and decided how long I wanted the board to hang. Glue your ribbon to the back, hang and enjoy!!

 makeup-3

I used a command hook just to get it up, but will be changing to a more decorative hook soon. What do you think? Better than the draw so full I couldn’t find anything. I think so.
