Well, this weekend was much needed but can I say it did not start out the best way. I headed to Target on Friday night for some cleaning supplies and I couldn’t find my wallet so I knew I left it at work in my desk. I luckily had other cash on me or that would have been really embarrassing. So I headed home and had a movie night. I watched Dead Man Down with Colin Farrell (who is serious in my top 5 hottest male actors) and it was really good. I originally was going to watch Only God Forgives since it has Ryan Gosling but it was horrible!! It was so weird, artsy and trip-y I ended up turning it off after 30 minutes.
Saturday: I headed to my work to pickup my wallet fairly early, and since I was on the road I stopped at the fabric store on the way home. My friend Heather had been not so subtly hinting that she wanted a make-up bag since I made one for their Mom so I decided to make one as a gift for her and her sister Lynn (my other best friend – her twin) since I was going to be seeing them later for Girls night. So when I got home I did some errands and then got to sewing. Here is the finished projects.
Heather loves lighthouses so I think it was a perfect fabric choice for her. Lynn’s favorite color is blue so it was picked with that in mind.
Since we were all getting together with both girls and my second Mom (their Mom) I showered and got ready. A girls night means dressing up and taking selfies of course.
Then I realized the lighting was a little harsh, so of course I had to take another one. Duh! Haha! I really don’t like taking my picture, but you gotta document a good hair day.
So we headed out to a place called Ward Eight and I had a Moscow Mule which was really good and then I had a Stella Artois Cider. We shared some pretzel sticks with this cheese dip which was so good.
Then Lynn and I shared a Ward 8 Salad (which we sent back since the chicken was undercooked) and the Funky Apple Grilled Cheese. It had green apple, gorganzola, and caramelized onion with a balsamic drizzle. The menu was amazing and all the food was really good. The service was pretty terrible though. The waitress was alone on a Saturday night and it was a packed night so I feel bad for her but she forgot to put our order in said the computer ate our order and then it took forever for it to come out after she placed it again.
We then hit the movie theater to see August: Osage County. This movie was brilliantly acted (Meryl Streep, and Julia Roberts most notably) and it was a very hard look at a dysfunctional family and how they cope. It touched a little too close to home and I ended up bawling at one point. It was amazing though and I totally recommend seeing it. This movie did make me realize how lucky (not that I don’t always) that I had those 3 women in my life. They helped mold me into the person I am and not let my childhood break me and make me mean and bitter. Having positive and kind people as a reference really helped make me into a better person. My Dad and brother too (can’t forget them).
Sunday: I didn’t really do much other then finish up some chores around the house, started the matching hat that I finished last week, and finished up the last season of White Collar on Netflix. I went grocery shopping and then made a new recipe that I will be sharing soon for a Breakfast Quesadilla. I also put some Valentines decorations out. I downloaded this album but this song really pushed me through my workout.
The rest of the night was pretty boring, watching TV, and doing bloggy things. I am looking forward to not having plans next weekend so I can really get some things done around the house.
How was your weekend?
Have you see August Osage County yet?

Love those makeup bags- nice work!! 🙂
Kerry says
Thank you! Next time I need to give myself a little more time so I don’t rush it so much, but they are really easy to make so I was glad I got them done in time!

I really want to see August: Osage County, I’m glad it was good!
Kerry says
It was a really great movie and brilliantly acted. It was a little sad and the family was a little broken but it was a family. Totally worth seeing it.
Lauren says
Your hair did look great! I love Moscow Mules – I started drinking them after I saw Oprah and Gayle drink them on the camping episodes a few years ago. I thought if they were good enough for Oprah, they were good enough for me!
Kerry says
Thank you! It is so long it almost never gets done during the week. If it is good enough for Oprah it is good enough for me too! My friend Lynn got me hooked on them! So good!
Allison says
Love that you made those makeup bags. So creative!!!
Kerry says
Thank you! I made their Mom an Elvis one for her Birthday and so she requested one for herself.

Looks like such a fun weekend girl. I am glad you were able to get your wallet, I would have been freaking out. You look so gorgeous for girl’s night, I can’t get over how cute your hair looked. Also, that grilled cheese with balsamic griizzled on it, WOW. I mean WOW that looks amazing. The new Julia Roberts movie looked amazing, I need to see it too. I love your Vday decor… you always decorate so well. xoxoxoxo
Kerry says
It was a great one! I was stressing but I knew I took it out at work to get a drink and it is hidden away so it was more so just a hour and a half round trip that was a hassle. Thank you, my hair is my favorite feature so I like to play with it when i get the chance since I don’t do it often for work other than straight. The food was so good! Thanks girl, I love change up the decor and most of it was from last year!

I want to see August Osage county. Maybe Saturday morning I’ll do a solo movie date?
Kerry says
It was really sad, but it was real life for a lot of people. Strange in some ways, but so beautifully acted! You really should go see it!
Amanda says
Lady, your hair is fantastic! Is that your natural dark color, or do you dye it? No judgement or anything, just wondering 🙂 And that makeup bag is great! You’re crafty.
Kerry says
Thank you so much! No I do dye it but it is very close to my natural color. My Mom went gray (she says blonde) at a young age so just to keep it all one color. Thank you. I like to do a little bit over everything!
Angi Solle says
You looked gorgeous girl, your makeup looks amazing! I’m such a fabric freak. I buy it even when I don’t need it for anything.
Kerry says
Thank you so much!! A little highlighting and contouring makes a big difference! I love buying the Fat Quarters of fabric, they are the perfect size for a make-up bag! I am trying to use up what I have but it harder when it is for a specific person.
Mandy says
Your weekend sounds like a blast and your hair looked FAB! I haven’t seen August Osage County but it sounds like it will probably make me cry too
Kerry says
It was so fun, the girls and I always have a blast when we get together! Thank you, it is finally at the length I like it. It was a really good movie and totally worth it, just bring the tissues! 😉
Helene in Between says
wow! love the makeup bags!! and your hair looks soooo good! I haven’t seen August Osage County but looks good!
Kerry says
Thank you. I don’t do my hair nearly enough. It was such a good movie and really worth seeing it in the theater.
Heather (@mylittlehea) says
Colin Ferrel? I was totally nodding away at all his hotness! I don’t think I’ve seen any of the movies you mentioned. Like books there are just too many! I love your hair and you’re right, you always have to document a good hair day! Your V-Day decor looks so cute and the breakfast quesadilla sounds fab!
Kerry says
Yes they were more independent movies that were in previews from another movie so I decided to check them out one being good the other totally horrible. Haha! Thank you, that makes me feel less vain. I am sharing the recipe tomorrow!
Leeann @ Join the Gossip says
Aside from the wallet situation it sounds like a pretty good weekend! I haven’t been to the movies in month. I’m craving some theater time 🙂 Loving the hair, too!
Thanks for linking up!
Kerry says
It was a great weekend! Any time I get with the girls is amazing. It was such a good movie even with the tears. Thank you. I love getting glam every so often.
Lynn says
I love hanging out with my sis and best bud. I love my thoughtful makeup bag. Who’s with me in thinking Kerry should sell them with her be the change logo as the tag and brand name ?!
Kerry says
I love you, girl! I can’t thank you enough for all your support and encouragement. Be The Change wouldn’t be anything without your suggestion and input!
Amanda says
You already know how hot I think you look up thurr. 😉
I actually did forget my wallet for the first time ever not too long ago. Got a bunch of snacks for work at the gas station and went to pay… mortifying!
Kerry says
Girl you are too kind! Isn’t it the most panic inducing moment!! I lose it all the time in the bottom of my Mary Poppins purse but then I dig it out, leaving it somewhere is so scary! Hope you found it.
Kelly says
Great hair day! I’m glad you liked the movie. I’ve heard mixed reviews. We also went to the movies. We saw American Hustle, which was good. And super cute makeup bags! 🙂
Kerry says
It was really good, it was a touch subject and a few randoms thrown in but it was honest and real. American Hustle is on my list to see, glad it was good. Thank you!
Janna says
Of course you have to document the great hair day, because it looked fab! I make a sandwich like that, but I use Brie and Green Apple. I’m a tidge bit obsessed with Brie!
Kerry says
Thank you! I bet it would taste fabulous with Brie. It is kinda a tie with me between Brie and Gouda for best cheese.
Kait @ ChickadeeSays says
Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! I love that you made ‘just because’ gifts- how fun! And btw your hair looks fab!
xx Kait

Thank you, they are the best friends I could ever ask for so they deserved them. It is finally the length I want it, thank you.
Stacia says
I always feel so terrible for waitresses left to do the work for themselves. It’s hard not to get frustrated when it takes way too long for food to get there, though. I generally stay away from emotional dramas, but I may have to look in to this movie. I love Meryl Streep
Kerry says
Yes I feel bad for her since I was a waitress through college and it is rough and the manager wasn’t helping her. It was so well acted and it was sad at points but it was real life. Meryl and Julia were amazing! Lot of cussing though.
elleseesyou says
i wanna see that movie sooo badly!
Kerry says
It was really good. Totally worth seeing it in the theater.
