I can’t go a day without music, in the car, at the gym, while at work it doesn’t matter I just have to listen to it. I don’t really pay attention though to when it came out to the public. So to help I am outlining some of my favorites of 2014 in no particular order. I really took a liking to country this year but rock is still in there too.
Madison Rising – Soldiers of America ~ Not only are they a Patriotic rock band but they also give back to children who lost parents in military service. This song also kicks a$$. The lead singer Dave Bray, is a former Navy Corpsman so he rocks even more. For the red, white and blue…
Ed Sheeran – Sing ~ Did he come out of nowhere or am I just late to the party? So many good ones to choose from but this one is my favorite of his. He has that Justin Timberlake vibe.
Avicii – Hey Brother ~ So many different meanings to this song, and it just gets into you and doesn’t let go.
The Band Perry – Better Dig Two ~ Maybe a slightly morbid love song but so catchy.
What are some of your favorite songs of the year?
I dont know most of these but I dont listen to country music so theres that 😀 BUT i cannot go a day without music also! I mean its always playing in my car!
I tend to mix it up from day to day so there is some rock, pop, and EDM in there too. What is your favorite type of music?
Ed Sheeran definitely had a big year – i love that song Sing!! Also agree that Bastille’s song was everywhere this year!! Great round-up girl!! xo, Biana
There were a lot of good ones from Ed Sheeran to choose from, hard to pick just one.
I am always late to the game on songs. I love Take Me to Church, which I just heard on a commercial for a new TV show. I love Blake Shelton on The Voice, but do not love twangy country/western(as we used to call it) music. One award show last year a guy was singing some song about driving a truck like he was singing to a girl. I have many CD’s that my Stephanie made me over the years that remain my favorite car music.
I love Maroon 5, too! Nice read today!
Love, SMD’s Momma
I hadn’t heard that till the other day. I really like the newer country it is a little more rock and roll. The mixed CD’s are hte best because you can include all your favorites. Maroon 5 is one of my favorites too.
Such a good roundup! Ed Sheeran has the most beautiful voice!
Thank you. Ed Sheeran had a really good year. So many of his songs made it to my iTunes.
um…… the only one i know is mine would be you. oops. haha! i don’t listen to music as much as i used to, thanks to audiobooks.
I usually keep my Pandora on all day at work which helps but it tends to be all the same songs.
I am so lame I never know what songs came out this year vs. last year.
I totally had to cheat and look a few up. The years all mesh together.
YES love all things Ed Sheeran! He’s one of my favs from 2014!
He just had so many hits this year!
I liked Pompeii until I heard it 243797 times. Then I got sick of it. Same with Take Me to Church. When I first heard it months ago, it reminded me of early Elton John. Now I can’t listen to it anymore. Still decent songs, but ones I need a break from.
If I had to pick a favorite song of the year, I’d have to go with Walk the Moon’s Shut Up and Dance. Or Volbeat’s Lola Montez which I think came out last year but I’m pretty sure I heard it for the first time this year. Does that count?
It did get overplayed at one point. I heard Take Me To Church for the first time yesterday! Ha! I totally think that counts! 😉
I love that you picked some country songs for your list! My favorite song of 2014 would be Shake it Off. I cant help it!
It has really been taking over my playlists. I almost included a T-Swift song but I wasn’t sure.
I love your taste in music! It spans so many different genres which is totally how I am when it comes to music!
Thank you! I am all over the map. I listen to R&B too but I couldn’t remember one that was only from this year. Fail.
I am probably the biggest avicii fan out there but his last album came out in 2013 so I tried to not include it 🙂 also i’m a little peeved with him for not being at tomorrowworld haha! i loved pompeii- such a great pick!
Haha! I hadn’t heard of him till 2014 so I included it. 😉 I tried to look up some but it was futile at one point. How does he miss an event like that, geez!
I wish i was more in touch with new music and musicians out there but Bastille’s Pompeii was def a good one!
I tend to always be late to the game too. I just listen to Pandora most days. Ha!
I only like Sing by Ed Sheeran out of these. Thank god you didn’t get me a CD for Christmas. ;P hahahaha
Haha! I thought you liked Luke Bryan? No other country singers?
Loooove better dig two!
The beat and vibe of it is so good.
I love Ed Sheeran! His song “Kiss Me” is one I really like.
He really can do no wrong lately.
Wait, you didn’t know who blake Shelton was?!? It’s ok, we can still be friends. Rum is an amazing song. I love brothers Osborne. Clearly, I’m a country fan. As for Ed, well, I’m not impressed with sing. I love the song but when he started he wasn’t a JT sound a like. He had his own style and he seemed to have lost it.
I know, I was a strictly Rock and R&B girl but I am totally loving country lately.
Do you have any idea how psyched I am to see 5FDP on someone’s list!? I have both one and two and still can’t get enough of them!
They are so good and totally fuel most of my workouts!
You’re like my husband. He’s always showing me new music. I tend to get stuck in a rut with my favorites. I do love ‘Better Dig Two’, though!
I love finding new music, and I tend to jump around from genre to genre. Isn’t it such a catchy tune.
Love some of these! Pompeii is one of my favorites 🙂 Great list, lady!
It was so hard coming up with a list especially because I listen to such a wide range. Pompeii was a big one for the year.
