Well we can officially say the warm weather is here. It reached about 86 degrees here, or was that just inside my house?! Either way it was all about trying to stay cool while still trying to get outside to enjoy it. I think I managed to strike a good balance. I did all my chores for the house on Friday night so I could be sure and have the weekend free, aside from grocery shopping of course.
Saturday: I started off the morning with a filling breakfast of french toast using low carb bread and a side of pineapple. Had to get my morning cup of java too in my new mug thanks to Steph.
Then I hit the Sprint store for an extra charger cord, then to Walmart to pick up a new Hydration pouch for my hiking pack. Then I hit the trails. No filters on these pictures either, just amazing weather.
While i was there I came upon an opportunity for a Random Act of Kindness but I will tell you more on Thursday. I headed home and grilled some lunch. I made a chicken sausage and some asparagus.
After taking Seamus for a walk I went grocery shopping then relaxed for the rest of the night with Orange Is The New Black on Netflix. It was the perfect ending to a long day.
Sunday: I started my day like usual, with some reading and a cup of coffee or two. I watched a few more episodes of OITNB and then headed out to do some shopping. Not before I saw a Rooster in my yard. Yes, I was dumb enough to call it a Turkey but I am blaming it on the heat and lack of sleep. I knew I messed up once it was already too late. Oh well, if you can’t laugh at your dumb moments someone else will! 😉
I got my Dad his Father’s Day gift and hit Target for some essentials and some new sunnies. I grilled out again for lunch and just relaxed for the rest of the day. I was going to go kayaking but I was a little worn out. Perfect ending to the weekend.

I use the Pepperidge Farm Carb Style 7 grain whole wheat. It is 5 Net Carbs per slice. The weather was perfect though I was sweating more than I’d like! 😉 Are you loving the new iPad?! Such a great gift! Glad you had a great birthday weekend!

Oh goodness, that Rooster would have freaked me out! Even the ducks from the pond scare me when they come at me!! Luckily the temp has been hovering in the 80’s around here, so I’m super thankful for that. Looks like you had a great weekend! I still need to get my dad some stuff!
It was so unexpected. I mean I get a lot of frogs from the lake and we see lots of ducks but this was my first Rooster. It was so nice though I was sweating just standing.
I love your hiking trails, they are much more grassy than the mountain I go too. Do you ever see snakes? Knock on wood, I haven’t yet. I SOO want us to have a girls weekend; go hiking, grill out, and watch “Orange is the New Black”. I am dying to see what that show is about!
Thanks! I wish there were a few more hills but I would have to go to New Hampshire for that kind of height. Yes, I have seen more than a half dozen. I saw a big one this weekend though it moved too fast to snap a picture. I know that would be so fun! Wish you lived closer. 🙁
It’s funny that you were watching OITNB and then a chicken appeared in your yard! (Remember when Piper went hunting for the chicken she saw in the first season? I just watched it last week….) We need to discuss season two because I’ll finish it tonight and I have some thoughts. Glad you had a nice and mostly relaxing weekend!

what is a rooster doing in your backyard and does it wake you up at like 4am? because we don’t have a rooster but i swear, those birds perch right on my window and chirp right into my room!
also, yay for awesome weather and hiking! we ran an awesome 11K on the trails yesterday, got eaten alive by mosquitoes and loved every second of it!
Haha! That was the first time I have seen it and it was mid-day so there is that at least! I don’t sleep enough as it is, so if it woke me up, it would have found itself on the grill! 😉 I don’t mind the birds chirping though.

I don’t have it often, but it is always nice on a busy weekend. I did binge watch a lot of it. Only a few episodes left. Not as good as the first Season but still good.

The only thing I did exciting this weekend was take a 3 hour nap yesterday. It was glorious.
It was very unexpected since I don’t know if it escaped from a neighbor or something. I didn’t see it this morning. It was hanging out for most of the day though. Ummmm a 3 hour nap sounds amazing!! I get so little sleep I was hoping for a nap but it never happened!

Mmm that french toast looks delicious especially with the pineapple on the side! That is so funny that a rooster was in your yard. My parents spotted a deer in their backyard this weekend and my mom was freaking out that it was going to eat her flowers, haha.

Haha! I have seen deer but not Roosters. They are cute but some can come right up to the house and eat flowers. The french toast was so good, especially since I was going hiking it kept me fueled.

I need to pick some chicken sausage up from Sam’s. I love it.
It was so nice though I wish the beach by my house was open. It doesn’t open till the 19th. The dog park sounds great to get them tired out. I absolutely love it. I’ve used it every day since even just for water. 🙂 Chicken sausage is so good and this was an apple smoked kind. Nice change from the regular sausage or linguica though those will make it to the grill too!
I definitely want to join you on those trails soon! Let me know when works!

I had a pretty quiet weekend, which was good because I got a lot of work done around the house! That weather sounds amazing! We have reached the upper 90s a couple of times already so I’m jealous of your 86! 🙂
I love weekends were I feel like I got a lot accomplished. The 90’s can be sweltering, even as nice as it was I sweated a lot so any hotter would have been brutal.

They have been lately. After the hectic March and April I try not to overbook myself and just enjoy the nice weather. I like a mix of being active, with book reading and just not moving! The weather was perfect this weekend!

It was so good. It was such a duh moment since I have had Turkey’s in my Dad’s yard. I can’t beleive it is next weekend. Usually I am last minute shopping but it was a deal I couldn’t pass up!
