I can’t really say what this weekend was about, it drifted on by. I thought about doing a number of things but then I remembered all the things to come this month and I really preferred to keep it low key. I was going to head out to Boston to see the movie Wild since it seems to not be playing anywhere but a few places, then decided to let it be for now.
The Introvert in me laughed at even the thought of running around instead of staying in, but it was a weekend of getting my house in order after piles of snow gear circling the front entrance, the salt trails on my hardwood floors, the laundry that never seemed to get done, getting done. It was as it should have been. A sort of reset to energize myself for the Spring ahead.
I finish the book Wild by Cheryl Strayed and I am already planning my hikes this Spring and Summer in New Hampshire. Wildcat and Owl’s Head might be a few of the first ones, with Mount Washington coming up the rear.
I may have gone to the gas station Redbox in my pajamas, and snow boots. I ended up getting Gone Girl and The Capture Captive, both really good.
I got my paid receipt from the bank for my car, this made it seem so real. Paid off a year early.
Saturday while watching movies I did a little spa day. With candles lit I soaked my feet, put on a face mask, applied some self-tanner and painted my toes.
I didn’t moan about Daylight Savings time because it gave me an excuse to nap on the couch, which I did.
Started a new book on Sunday, the Author Joanne DeMaio will be making an appearance on the blog soon to promote her new book The Denim Blue Sea.
With the warmer weather I tried to shovel out the skating rink that is my driveway.
I took a drive with Seamus so he could stick his head out the window and to just jam out with the windows down.
Seamus seems to be spending more and more time on his new bed. I can almost never tear him off it unless it’s time for a walk.
Overall, this weekend was the calm before the storm. Lots of birthdays to attend in the coming weeks, lots of driving back to my hometown and lots of gifts to buy and ship. I was glad to enjoy the peaceful and get my house back in order after this Winter.
How was your weekend?
Linking up with Biana from B Loved Boston.
Kelly says
Congratulations on paying off your car early! Such a great feeling. We were going to go to the movies too, but didn’t end up doing much of anything. Hooray for DST! I know some don’t like it, but I need more daylight, so I’m happy to have the extra time to enjoy it, even if all I’m looking at is dirty snow. Baby steps.
Have a great week!
Kerry says
Thanks! Having extra daylight time is so nice, soon enough the snow will be melted too.
kathy at realtalk says
sometimes you just need to do that! with so many activities we have on the weekend, it’s hard to stay in and get the house in order. then again, i guess i could do that during the day when no one is here but there’s the couch and naps and relaxing LOL
TELL ME MORE ABOUT THESE HIKES.
Kerry says
I really have been trying to get it all done because I know once the snow melts I won’t be inside for longer than I have to be!! Naps are the best!
Linda Sheridan says
Good for you getting stuff done. We had a lovely party for my Dad’s 84th birthday on Saturday.
He is a great guy and I am thankful for him. It is not nice watching him care for my mom with Parkinson’s, and she only wants him doing things for her and he feels it is his duty. Our life journeys are our own and we just have to deal. Happy I am able to take him to his check up today.
The thaw has begun and spring is around the corner. Always look on the bright side of life.
Love, SMD’s Momma
Kerry says
It was really nice. The pictures were so nice, and it was great you all got together to celebrate. He sounds like a great man. Spring is near and it is supposed to be beautiful this week, hopefully it melts a lot of the snow.
Kelli says
Calm do nothing weekends are my favorite, it’s going to be a while before I get one though! I love that Seamus got to go for a car ride, he’ll be so happy to see spring!
Kerry says
I am so looking forward to busy weekends outside of the house!! He has been cooped up all winter too, he needed to feel the air through his hair! Hehe.
Biana says
I’m so so happy to see that paid receipt – that is such a wonderful accomplishment!! Sometimes you just need the weekend you had to rejuvenate yourself!! Watermelon Margarita…are we getting the recipe for that?! xo, Biana –
Kerry says
It is such a good feeling! It was actually a bottle mix just add ice! 😉
Tori@Cupcakes & Crossbones says
Great job paying off your car and especially a year early! Awesome. Seamus is looking as cute as ever!
Kerry says
Thanks!! Feels good! He was so cute this weekend, and he is so attached to that bed now!
Meg says
Oooh good to know Gone Girl is already at Redbox – I still need to see that. And you rock those PJs – I’ve definitely been guilty of doing the same 🙂 And time change day should definitely be changed to International Nap Day – who didn’t nap yesterday?? Have a great week!
Kerry says
It was good and close to the book from what I remember of it. Haha! I had already changed too many times that day I gave up. It is all about the napping.
jodi says
I thought you got him a bed so he wouldn’t use your blankets?! I see he still has one! Lol
Kerry says
Haha! Yes I used that just so he would get the scent that it was his bed. He stole the other two before, that one is actually just for him.
Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis says
Congrats on paying off your car early!! That’s a big accomplishment. Sounds like a relaxing yet productive weekend. How did you like Gone Girl?
Kerry says
Thank you. It was a little bit of everything. I really liked it, it was awhile ago from when I read the book so I couldn’t remember the ending but they were both as crazy in the movie as they were in the book.
Kate says
Must be an awesome feeling to pay off your car early! I need to get a crack on cleaning up my own salty hardwoods!
Kerry says
Such a good feeling and hopefully leads to paying other bills off. The salt is brutal on hardwoods, with my shoes and puppy prints they took a beating. I used the Swiffer wood spray and that has done great for cleaning but not for shine.
Nadine says
Seamus is too cute on his little bed!!! Looks like it was a great investment 🙂
Hurrah on getting your car paid off, and early at that! That has to feel amazing! I love your at home spa day. I really need to do that for myself one weekend! And I keep forgetting that I need to get some gradual tanning lotions too! The spring is going to be upon me before I know it down here! Have a great week!
Kerry says
Such a great investment. He adores it. It was nice because the Winter did a number on my skin. With the weather in the 40’s and possible 50’s Spring is close. Time to get ready for dress season.
Ashley says
Yay for that paid receipt! Oh man how awesome! I never read the book but Gone Girl was SO messed up! I’m pretty sure I just stared at the screen when it ended like WHAT?! This time change has really messed me up too.
Kerry says
It was such a good feeling. It was so messed up and I couldn’t like either one. They kinda deserved each other.
kristen says
sounds like the perfect weekend and sounds like you’ll need that one in the bank for all the crazy weekends coming up! i love that you went to the redbox in your pjs, and seamus is adorable in his bed! glad he loves it 🙂
Kerry says
Yes, I needed some rest in reserves. Haha, I was a total mess! I can’t get him off the bed half the time. 🙂
Leeann @ Join the Gossip says
Sounds like a pretty good weekend to me! It was so hot here I didn’t get around to doing much. Totally not a good excuse!
Kerry says
It was pretty amazing, and relaxing! Say what?! You need to take advantage of the warm!
Kim says
Anytime the weekend involves watermelon (or any flavor) margaritas it’s a win!! I thought Gone Girl was such a good book/movie except the ending which I sort of hated.
Kerry says
You really can’t go wrong with a margarita!! It was so twisted, the ended could have used some work.
helene says
whoo! that is awesome! did you like wild? I’m having a hard time with it. I’m just not diffing it!
Kerry says
I liked it, but it could have been better. I do tend to like soul searching trips and hiking so it was right up my alley. I wish there had been more story telling in it.
Tricia Coniglio says
Gone Girl really is a good movie! I like that you left the house in pj’s and boots. haha. I used to live near a Wal-Mart that I swear was one of the locations where people had their sightings of “people of walmart” and I used to see the most raggedy people in their dirty dingy pjs. I totally get running up to Redbox in your normal, clean pjs. But not *into a store* in your dirty, mow the lawn clothes! LOL
Kerry says
It was a good movie and pretty close to the book. Yes, they were at least clean and covered everything! Haha!
SMD @ Life According to Steph says
The salt everywhere inside is AWFUL.
I think I’d see Wild, not sure I’d read the book.
Kerry says
I was cleaning it twice a day, so glad it’s warming up. I think the book was slow at times but it did inspire me to get out and hike tougher mountains this summer so I give it extra stars for that, it was slow at times though.
jackie says
aww seamus loves his bed! i loved gone girl too and yes – so messed up.
Kerry says
He is on it so much, totally loves it. I can’t remember some of the book but I remember not liking either of them, and I felt the same after the movie too.
Amy @ The Crazy Wise Woman says
I bagged all my housework because it was like spring here and just too pretty to be inside! I go out in my slippers all the time!!! Don’t feel bad:)
Kerry says
If it wasn’t for the snow I would have been out and about too. Glad you were able to enjoy the weather, you looked good in your tennis outfit!
Meghan @ Champagne & Suburbs says
Sounds like an amazing weekend! I’m with you on the thought of Daylight Saving Time. Also, I cannot wait to see Gone Girl! Of course, I love all Seamus snuggled up. xoxo
Kerry says
More daylight and an excuse to nap, what’s not to like?! Haha! It was good, and just as messed up as the book. He was such a lazy bones all weekend, but he does look so cute all snuggled. Thank you.
Stacia says
Gone Girl was insane. I, personally, didn’t enjoy it, but it was a trippy ride!
Kerry says
It was so hard to like either character, and I couldn’t pick. It was a trip.
Kay R. says
You live near Boston?? I could have totally met you when I was there last in October. Bummer! Gone Girl was …. intense.
Kerry says
Yes, a little to the West!! I know I was sad you weren’t here longer. It was and I remembered how I hated them both and that they deserved each other.
Bri @ My Life As... says
I almost bought Wild & Barnes and Noble the other day but I had been putting off reading The Notebook & that was half the cost so I went with that this time. That’s the next one that I’m getting though! I still need to read/see Gone Girl as well.
Kerry says
The Notebook is better. It was good, but could have been a lot better, it was more inspiring to me than anything, it was just slow in parts.
Amanda says
So awesome that you got your car paid off and have the receipt now! Totally get what you mean by it being more “real” now! AWESOME!!!! 😀
What’s Capture? Who’s in it??
Kerry says
I am so glad. It is the first step to total world domination!! Bwahaha! Oooppppss. It’s actually called The Captive, with Ryan Reynolds and the woman from The Killing.
Marie says
I love having a relaxing weekend at home. Congrats on paying off your car, that is so fantastic!! I love all the reading you do, I wish I could do the same but lately find myself so distracted as I try to read. I think it’s cause I have a million things going on right now and I can’t focus.
Kerry says
Thank you. It is really hard when you have a lot going on, though I try to read every morning and every night even if for only 15 minutes each. Every little bit helps me wake up and sleep better.
ellesees.blogspot.com says
such a cutie, that seamus. love you went in your pjs to get movies!!
Kerry says
Thank you. He always makes me smile. Seriously so lazy but I had already changed in and out of clothes once already. 🙂
