Oh Friday I am in love with you. I am so happy to see this week go and am hopeful that this weekend although still busy will be good. I have some cake to make tonight. I am dropping my car off tomorrow to get worked on, hopefully it is on the lesser side of expensive fixes. Dang potholes. I also have a birthday party for my nephew and where the cake will be delivered. It will be a long day but Sunday I have no plans other than grocery shopping. Woohoo! You know the drill it is Friday so here are my 5 things.
One. A wine bottle to go?! This may be on a whole new level of alcoholism, but no judgement here.
Two. It’s virtual mug time. This one goes out to Sharon from The Tiny Heart. She posts outfits that I can afford but also what I would wear. She may be petite but she has a big spirit. She also has two of the cutest pups, so obviously she is awesome.
Three. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and I loved it. Plenty of suspense and a little romance. Not enough to take away from the story, it just added to it without being overly done. Gotta love a good book and for free no less.
From Goodreads: To save her only brother, Andrea Finch must face down a criminal mastermind, the FBI, and her own demons in this thrilling novel from the author of the bestselling Tracers series. Police detective Andrea Finch is a rising star in her department until a split-second decision derails her career. Disgraced and disillusioned, she’s on leave from her job when she gets an urgent call from her younger brother. She’d prefer to ignore his latest plea for cash, but this time instinct tells her something is very wrong. Andrea’s search for answers takes her to a dusty Texas border town where danger lurks in plain sight and nothing is quite what it seems. FBI agent Jon North is working undercover in west Texas investigating an unsolved murder that may be linked to a broader plot. But when the evidence points to Andrea’s brother, Jon finds that persuading the stubborn cop to help will be harder than cracking his toughest case. Andrea must find a way to do what’s right while protecting her only sibling. As the clock ticks down on a deadly plot, Andrea and Jon race to confront a heartless killer who will stop at nothing to deliver a final, terrifying message.Four. Steph and Marla are hosting another Spending Challenge. This one is a little more open but I want to try to be a little strict on myself. The challenge begins on April 1st and ends on April 30th.
My rules: No spending past what I budget for ahead of time. I have 3 birthday that month so gifts will be budgeted. Cancel any extra subscriptions I am not using or don’t use anymore (i.e. magazines, reduce Netflix DVD option, find lower cable and internet option etc). Put at least $200.00 in savings if not more. Stay on budget for all other items.
Five. After my post yesterday I was floored by all the support. Each and every comment helped, so thank you to every one who commented. I tend to get overwhelmed when I have too many things going on for multiple weekends in a row and it is at those times I need to remember to stop and smell the roses. I was surprised with an eCard to Victoria’s secret. Such an amazing gift and so very perfect for my Victoria’s Secret addiction. Thank you Liz for thinking of me and making my day a little brighter. Also a shout out to Lauren for sending me multiple Snapchats that got me giggling. You both helped me get through the day.
What are you up to this weekend?
kathy @ vodka and soda says
i’m glad you’re sounding and feeling a bit better! the april freeze is sounding good right about now because we need to buckle down on the spending. i think we can do it…maybe? i know i can but not sure about my husband!
Kerry says
Thank you. I am excited to come up with a plan and move forward. Haha! You need to put him on lockdown!
Nichole C says
Have a great weekend, chickie!
Kerry says
Thank you. Hope you do as well.
elleseesyou says
another busy weekend for you! i hope you’re able to squeeze in some rest somewhere 🙂
Kerry says
It never ends, though I think next weekend all i have is a haircut and then I am not leaving the house the rest of the weekend!! I am putting myself on house arrest. Haha! Hoping Sunday will be restful.
Linda Sheridan says
Happy weekend to you and Goddess speed! Busy with our grandchildren yesterday, just saw your post!
It is important to take care of yourself and have self-love!! You girls today are wise at a young age!
Baking cookies to take to my Sean’s spring soccer game in Newark at NJIT. #bakingislove
Enjoy every minute of the weekend and take time for yourself.
Love, SMD’s Momma
Kerry says
Thank you! Baking is love!! I am sure they will love the cookies especially after running around so much. Have a great weekend!
Joey says
I love love loooooove that mug!! And a wine bottle to go? Yes please! There’s also these things called stacked wines that are individually cupped “glasses” of wine stacked together to make a bottle, but the cups are disposable. Seriously so cool (and perfect for the beach or tailgate)!
Kerry says
Thanks! Perfect for beach days! 😉 Disposable stacked wines are genius!
Lex says
after the week you’ve had I think you need that bottle of wine to go!
Kerry says
Haha! I know right?!
Kelli says
Potholes are the worst, they really take a toll on your car! I hope you have a great relaxing weekend!
Kerry says
They really do and they are so bad right now. I hope you have a great weekend. Enjoy the beach for me!
Sharon says
Thanks so much for the mug shoutout and the kind words! You are too sweet!
That wine bottle to go really makes me wish that I could drink on the beach here (sadly it’s illegal and the cops do come around and check).
-Sharon
Kerry says
You totally deserve it! That stinks that it is illegal there. 🙁
Lauren says
I mean if the ridiculousness of a gangsta snapchat from me can’t at least make you crack a smile then I am out of ideas! No but really, take some time for you on Sunday and recharge – sounds like you need it! My dollar store has their version of the wine to go cups and I really wanted one but am out of cabinet space. I like my drinks to stay cold, no judgement here!
Kerry says
Seriously I was cracking up!! I am so ready for Sunday, totally vegging out and baking. Out of cabinet space!!!
Liz @ Fitness Blondie says
Don’t mind me while I fuel your addiction. Love you babes. Smile this weekend, relax and just enjoy YOU. I hope it’s a very Kerry filled weekend.
Kerry says
Thanks girl! It was the best surprise! I am going to make the best of it on Sunday and gt a game plan going!
Biana says
Wine on the go yes please – although I think I might pass out in the sun lol! That book sounds like a great read!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Kerry says
That could be bad if you are prone to burning, yikes. Good point. I really liked it, and it moved quickly. Hope you have a great weekend too.
Amanda Elizabeth says
Hmmmmmm I am intrigued about that wine to go. The mug you sent is so sweet! I love random acts of kindness like that. Hope you have a fabulous weekend! xoxoxo
Kerry says
Isn’t it just beautiful! Haha! Enjoy your weekend!
Emily T says
How cute is that wine to go? It reminds me of those plastic water bottles you see clipped to people’s backpacks. I’m always looking for new good reads, so thanks for sharing the suggestion.
-Em
Kerry says
Isn’t it so perfect for camping trips, beach days, tailgating. Very welcome.
Jessica says
Ok, I’m thinking I should join this spending challenge too.
Kerry says
You totally should. It will be fun to see what we can save.
SMD @ Life According to Steph says
This week has been awful and I’m glad I got out alive.
Thanks for sharing the spending challenge. Good goals for yourself.
And another great mug choice!
Kerry says
Glad it is over and we can enjoy the weekend. I am looking forward to this one.
Kate @ Another Clean Slate says
I still need to figure out my rules for the April Wallet Watch!! Glad you’re feeling better 🙂
Kerry says
I love that it is a little more open. Thank you.
Angi says
I need that wine on the go like now! I literally get gifted different wines or ways to store it for every holiday…I think it is a problem, ha!
Kerry says
It is perfect! That is not a problem, that is the perfect gift. 🙂
birdietobe says
Love that to go wine bottle too! Happy Friday!
Kerry says
It is just so perfect. Happy Friday.
Jordan says
That mug is so cute! Hope you have a fantastic weekend!
Kerry says
Isn’t it so cute. Hope you enjoy your weekend.
Kate @ Green Fashionista says
Ok I definitely need one of those wine bottle to go thinys… super smart and cute 🙂
Happy Friday!
Kerry says
It is perfect for days on the beach!
Amanda says
I like how you’re managing your subscriptions as part of your spending challenge. I’ve been meaning to look into that but keep putting it off (because I’m a lazy piece of shit) but I may have to copy off of you and add it to mine, too!
Kerry says
You should totally add it in. The little costs start to add up and end up costing a lot.
Carla Bruns (@RealInto) says
I hope the car is very little and the birthday party is very big! I love, love, love Net Galley although I can’t keep up with all of the reads I select. I hope you get plenty of rest on Sunday. It sounds like you can use a quiet day.
Kerry says
Thank you. I have so many books to read I get so excited about new reads. It is a very quiet rainy Sunday, perfection!
Christy@SweetandSavoring says
Hope you have a super relaxing day tomorrow! I can identify with the overwhelmed feeling- it took me a long time to accept that I’m just not comfortable with too much social activity. Even if I’m out somewhere, I will step away or outside away from people to get a few minutes by myself.
Kerry says
Thank you. Yes, when I have to many social events I get anxious. It just gets to be too much sometimes and I need to learn to say no more. Glad you found a way that works for you too.
Kristen says
wine to go? where do i sign up?? lol!
Kerry says
Haha! It is perfect for the summer.
Leeann @ Join the Gossip says
Good luck with your car. I dropped mine off last Thurday ugh.
I think I’ll totally do the no spending challenge. Being that I’m unemployed it’s probably the smart thing to do haha!
My dad is all about alcohol to go lol. He has a beer belly that you wear so you can sneak alcohol. He also has a container that looks like sun block but it’s a flask lol.
Kerry says
Thank you. It was not the outcome I wanted but at least it’s fixed. It is the smart thing to do considering! Haha! A beer belly sounds awesome!! He is a genius, and sounds like a fun guy!
Trish says
I hope the repairs on your car turned out to be not too serious. Car troubles always get me so stressed out. And that wine bottle? I need that. There’s always room for a little more alcohol in my life 😉
Kerry says
Thank you. They are so stressful since even the most minor thing is so expensive! I really needs to be in every home. 🙂
Morgan says
I pinned that wine2go thing last week on Pinterest. I NEED it in my life! I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
Kerry says
It is totally perfect!! Thank you! Hope you did too!
Stacia says
How do you like using NetGalley? I just recently heard of them, but I hadn’t known anyone who used them until now. 🙂
Kerry says
I L.O.V.E it! I have already read about 7 books from there, even one from my favorite author, and for free. Can’t beat it. There was only one book that I didn’t really care for but otherwise really opened me up to new authors and books I never may have come across.
