I don’t know what got into me this weekend but I feel very accomplished. I know the cooler weather gets me excited. It was perfect aside from the rain, but even that didn’t dampen the night since I got to relax and read while listening to the rain.
Friday: I put together a to-do list so I could stay on track this weekend and get stuff done. It helps when it’s colorful right?! If you remember from my Birthday Wish List I wanted these anchor bookends, well I bought them and then got to work making them more my taste. A textured black spray paint make these so much better.
Saturday: Seamus decided it would be fun to wake me up really early (5:36am) to go the bathroom and then immediately go back to sleep. I have a very hard time going back to sleep so coffee it was instead. I decided to use this day as my running around day so I went shopping first at the Christmas Tree Shop for a Keurig stand, then to Wal-Mart for odds and ends then I went hiking. It was predicted that rain was coming so I wanted to get it done early.
After the hike I went to PetSmart for dog food and they were having an adoption drive, let me tell you it was so hard to resist getting another dog. Then I went to A.C. Moore for a picture frame for my Happiness sign I got last week. Back home I did most of my chores including grocery shopping before the rain came pouring down. The rest of the night I read and finished The Killing on NetFlix.
Sunday: The morning is as always spent reading. I look up to see Seamus sticking out his tongue. Seriously can he get any cuter?!
After putting all my laundry away, it was time for the MAJOR project. Really I just wanted to move the furniture since my new bedspread is supposed to come on Monday and to make a custom bench for the end of the bed. After moving the bed, it turned into me wanting to change EVERYTHING!!
The bed and nightstand doesn’t really fit with the headboard I currently have so that led to deciding I need new ones. Then I wanted to change up my bureau pieces currently everything is what was already on it.
Before picture \ Before picture \ Bed doesn’t fit \ Bureau
I realized I have some shopping to do and projects to complete before it’s done so stay tuned. The rest of the night was spent baking this Blackberry Pear pie, some goat cheese meatballs with spaghetti squash for dinner while watching movies.
Overall I felt really accomplished and feel like the coming weekends will be just as productive. I know it seems like I was go, go, go but I did have a little bit of relaxing time too, promise.
How was your weekend?

Sounds like a really productive weekend and yes colorful to-do lists make it more exciting!! I love your new anchor bookends – and they look amazing in black!! I kept seeing these great photos of Seamus on instagram and instantly made me smile!! Can’t wait to see what you end up doing with the bedroom!!! Have a great Monday!!
Kerry says
I have a thing for lists. They help to keep me on track. Thank you, the brass would never work for me. 😉 Seamus is totally my mood lifter. This bedroom will be the death of me. I want to change everything now!! Haha!
Kelly (@KRod0519) says
Your hiking path is gorgeous! Love “A Diamond as Big as the Ritz.” I remember writing a paper on it for one of my English classes. 🙂 You definitely had a productive weekend. 🙂 Well done! Have a great week.
Kerry says
Thank you. They have so many different paths I love exploring there. One of my favorite authors, hope you got a good grade on it! 😉 Hope you have a great week!
Lauren says
I’m glad you got some relaxing in, even if I can’t see it! I’m excited to see what you do with your room since you know I’m still on the hunt for great ideas. I hate it when my cat wakes me up – I wish I could be like you and get up and be productive!
Kerry says
I know right?! It was really just a few hours in the morning from 5:30-7:30am. Haha!
I have a feeling like this is going to be more of a project then I want it to be. I have such a hard time going back to sleep so I end up just reading till my brain catches on that it is awake.
Ellesees.blogspot.com says
i love a productive weekend! you got so much accomplished! i just wanna give seamus a big ole hug!
Kerry says
Thank you. I was on a mission to get a lot done, even though I still have a lot to do. Seamus loves hugs. 😉
Nichole says
Looks like a good weekend of busy/chillaxing…love a good mix like that! Like how you re-did the bookends, I like the black a lot better.
Kerry says
Thank you. Yes, I am not a fan of brass. Haha! I might add some white to antique it but haven’t decided yet.
Em says
Go girl!!! Goodness Seamus is beyond adorable!! And I really need to move somewhere that allows me to go on long hikes. I’m always jealous of all these hiking posts! Definitely a fan of this cooler weather too :).
Kerry says
I was on a roll. Haha! Thank you, you should have seen him this morning with yogurt all over his face. Yes, hiking is the best and such a good workout on days I don’t run.
Kateri Von Steal says
The picture of the Blackberry Pear pie was in my DREAMS last night. HAHAHA.
And Seamus is ADORABLE!
🙂 New furniture is FUN!
Kerry says
Haha! That is good to hear, maybe not for you though. 😉 Thank you, he has the funniest faces.
This mini-makeover may not be so mini anymore! Ugh!
Helene says
I hate it when the dogs wake me up! I can NEVER fall back asleep! drives me crazy!
Kerry says
Glad I am not the only one! It is exhausting but he makes up for it, being all cute.
SMD @ Life According to Steph says
All of my small changes lead to larger ones and also purchases. LOLOL Can’t wait to see your afters!
I’m behind on my book and it’s due Wednesday. I don’t think I’ll get it done so I’m going to have to return it late.
Kerry says
Isn’t that always the way! Shopping is a must now to complete it.
I hate when that happens, does your library do a 1 day grace period? That always helps me. I am so behind on reading lately.
Kristen says
oh i love your bookends and they look way better black! fabulous 🙂
Kerry says
Thank you. I prefer them to the brass for sure! You’ll be happy to know I was cleaning my bookshelves and found a copy of PP and thought of you. 😉
Nadine says
Those book ends!!!!!!! I LOVE those bookends!!!!
I am with you, I am not allowed at Petsmart during adoption weekends because I want to bring all the dogs home. I cry, and have to be dragged out.
Kerry says
Thank you! I am loving them now that they aren’t brass!
I had to call my Dad to talk me out of it!! It was hard their were some cuties! I need a bigger house first!
Melanie at Ribbons and Rotor Blades says
I love those book ends! And your bedroom!
So, what is a Keurig stand??? Like, something for K cups for something for the actual Keurig itself??? I’m really hoping to get a Keurig for my birthday this November!
Kerry says
Thank you. Hopefully the bedroom won’t take too long to complete. It is a stand the keurig sits on with a drawer for the k-cups. It is better than the stand alone holders since it takes up less counter space. I love my Keurig, don’t know what I would do without it.
Amanda Elizabeth says
I love the Christmas Tree Shop!!! I really miss it hahahaa. I was trying to describe to Mark the other day what it is all about and I just don’t think he got past the fact it has Christmas in the title 😉
Kerry says
It is such an odd title since it does all the seasons but i always say it is like a high end dollar store! If that isn’t an oxymoron! Haha!
Carly Blogs Here says
Hooray for a productive weekend! I love how those bookends turned out! I love pear anything so that pie sounds delicious!
Kerry says
Thank you. I feel like my next few weekends will be very productive. Much to get done. There is always room for pie, right?!
Emily says
Ugh waking up at 5:30 on the weekend is painful! But I’m sure you couldn’t resist that cute face haha.
Kerry says
I basically never catch up on sleep, but when that face looks at me it is hard to be mad about it. 😉
Kelli says
I love the bookends, I would never think to paint something new!
I’m so glad I have two dogs again, it’s like what I imagine getting your kid a sibling would be like. Always someone else to play with when mommy is to tired. 🙂
Kerry says
It is hard to justify painting something new but when i searched for anchor bookends nothing was catching my eye. I loved the design but hate brass so it made it an easier decision.
Yes, I feel like Seamus would do well with another dog but I am worried about space. I would love a bigger yard and less neighbors before I get one though.
Amber says
Ooo I want some of that pie!
Kerry says
Pie makes everything better! 😉
Kate @ Green Fashionista says
It’s been forever since I’ve been on a good hike, you’ve inspired me 🙂
Kerry says
You should go, I always feel so good after a hike. The views make it so worth it.
Amanda says
Oh man I can’t go anywhere NEAR those places when they have adoption days. I would want to take them ALL home with me! I wish we had a house and JC wasn’t so territorial over Pete and I – I think it’d be cool (even though it’d be hard) to foster.
Kerry says
It was so hard I called my Dad to talk me out of it. Seamus is possessive of me but he does like other dogs. I want a bigger yard before getting another dog. Fostering would be really cool.
Jackie says
Awww Seamus with his tongue out is sooo cute! And love your cute new bookends!
Kerry says
Thank you. I laughed so far when I saw I just had to take a picture. Thank you, I have such a thing for anchors.
Stacia says
I love how the bookends look! It’s amazing what a coat of spray paint can do!
Kerry says
Yes, it really can make a dramatic difference.
Trish says
I love the bookends! They look great. And I am itching real bad to give my bedroom a makeover. I’ll be sure to blog about it if I ever manage to get it done 🙂
Kerry says
Thank you. I feel like in the Fall is always when I have the most energy, and want to re-decorate everything! Haha.
Krystal says
Defo a good weekend! I love your bed!! and yay for Seamus, I love all the pics of him!
Kerry says
It was a really good weekend. Thank you. Seamus makes the whole weekend. 😉
Lynsey @ Eternally Wanderlyn says
Wow! You were on fire last weekend. 🙂 You should send some of that productivity my way.
Kerry says
Haha! Thank you. I tend to get a lot of energy around this time of year.
Lara says
Love it when I feel accomplished at the end of the weekend! I really, really need to re-do my bedroom. I’m not very good at decorating so I just don’t do it. It’s gotten to the point that my husband is actually making me go shopping for things to put on the walls.
Kerry says
It feels so nice to get things accomplished. I think just adding a few pieces can make a huge difference. Start small and just build from there.
Leeann @ Join the Gossip says
Those bookends are adorable! I feel like black paint fixes everything!
Thanks for linking up for MMG 🙂
Kerry says
Thank you. Right?! A fresh coat of paint gives new life to everything!
Kate says
So crafty with the bookends! I love rearranging furniture- it’s an easy change that makes a big difference.
Kerry says
The paint made a world of difference. I am still trying to get used to the new arrangement but it can make such a difference.
Kimberlee says
Can’t wait to see the finished project. Love making to-do lists!! #nerd Looks like a beautiful hike. Thanks for linking up!
Kerry says
Thank you. I was so happy with how it came out. Lists just make me happy.
Janna says
I love the gold bookends, but I love what you did with them! The black makes them pop more.
Kerry says
Thank you so much! I am not a fan of gold, but the black really made it feel more my style.
