Can you say NESTING! I feel like once Fall hits I start to nest in preparation for the Winter down days. I clean all the rooms in the house, I bake a lot, and I have a ton of energy. Oh yeah and all the leaves changing colors and all that jazz is pretty nice too. 😉 I didn’t take a ton of pictures because I was mostly running around cleaning and doing errands.
Friday was spent grocery shopping and a quick trip to Target. I got all the ingredients for a lot of recipe testing I wanted to do.
Saturday Seamus woke me up early and gave me all the smiles while doing it. I did some reading and then I made some Brown Sugar Cinnamon Beer Bread with Brown Sugar Butter, recipe is next week. After a few chores I started on a soup for dinner. While it was cooking I watched Hocus Pocus which was on my Fall Bucket List. Check and Check. The soup was a Chorizo Soup with Black Beans and Corn made in the crockpot. I’ll be sharing the recipe tomorrow. I started to pull out my Fall decorations but it was pitiful needs some work so more to come next weekend.
Sunday was a lot more cleaning including going through my closet to get rid of any clothes I could to donate. I couldn’t do the power cleaning session with out some coffee first so I made the Butterscotch Caramel coffee I posted about on Friday, the non-alcohol version of course. I was amazing!
I had to do some yard work for a few hours and then I started on another soup for lunch, the Brie and Cheddar Apple Beer Soup with Cinnamon Pecan Oat Crumble I mentioned for my Bucket List. It was really good and I will be glad to have the leftovers for the week but it was really time consuming and took about 1-1/2 hours so I probably wouldn’t make it again unless trying to impress someone or having a dinner party.
The rest of the night was relaxing, blogging, watching Addiction and Hoarders. Why can I not change the channel when that show comes on??
Here is to a 4 day work week, let it go by fast!
How was your weekend?
Linking up with Leeann from Join the Gossip and Biana from B Loved Boston.

that chorizo soup looks DEEEELISH! saw all of that on IG and it made me drool every time! 😀
I will be sharing it tomorrow just for you! 😉
A four day work week!! I’m so jealous!! I saw all your food/drinks on insta this weekend and I can’t wait for you to share!! Cleaning is just the best feeling – making more room for new stuff 🙂 Have a great Monday!!
I am so looking forward to it. Haha! My thoughts exactly! Happy Monday!
I can’t wait for your beer bread recipe! Sounds delicious!
Thank you. I love beer bread since you don’t have to wait for it to rise.
The soup looks fabulous, but an hour and a half of on-time cooking? No! I can’t.
I hope the days fly so you get to your four day weekend sooner!
It was insane! Standing there and my stomach was rumbling. No, thank you. Counting down the days! Much needed!
I love Hocus Pocus. I should probably find when it’s on TV so I can record it. I really need to get a new DVD player. My DVR is starting to get overrun with movies just so I can watch them when nothing is on TV.
It was on all weekend on Lifetime. i am sure it will be on ABC Family too. Haha! I know I do the same thing. Hehe!
that soup looks amazing. my husband would love it. i watched hocus pocus on the weekend too, but i didn’t really clean, lol. felt like being lazy, good for the soul!
Sometimes lazy weekends are the best. This whole month my house was a mess so it felt good to really get everything put away and back to rights.
I love cleaning out my closets. It’s so therapeutic. Plus, I love having room for new stuff. hahah.
Yes, so much more room, and i can find stuff.
That bread sounds wonderful.
I seem to want to be a bear and hibernate with
The time change and early darkness.
Our weather here has been fabulous !
80’s and sunny and cool mornings and nights
Great 4 day week for you !
Love,SMD’s momma
Thank you. It was such beautiful weather but I can totally feel the hibernation coming. Haha! Hope all your cooking and tailgating cooking was a success!
Haha I was totally nesting this weekend, as well. At least it made it productive, right?
At least we got stuff done! Haha!
Oh my I can’t wait for this beer brie soup recipe! It is coming at the PERFECT time!
And I need to get in my closets and dresser – but I did manage to get my fall decor out!
Seamus has such a cute face – love him!
I love fall decor, I really need to just finish a few things up and it will be finished. Thank you, he does made it hard to be mad when he wakes me so early!
I love soup so much. I definitely want to try out some new ones this fall and winter. I usually reserve Sundays for making that stuff, along with baking, because I can only watch so much football and once November rolls around, I’ll be in beast mode. Meanwhile, I’m going to be absorbing some of your energy because I have none lately.
Soup is so perfect in the fall. Soup is the perfect Sunday lounging activity especially when it is a crockpot recipe.
give me all the soup!! Love when Seamus makes an appearance on the blog!
I really was all about the soup this weekend! Makes for good leftovers too. I can’t leave him out, he must make his presence known!
you can make that soup when I visit Thanksgiving because I know you are trying to impress me. hahaha
Of course! Bwahaha! We will be baking and crafting!
I’m all about nesting too! I cleaned and crafted this weekend after my visit to Bird Island, I was beat on Sunday!
Every work week should be 4 days long!
They are the perfect kind of weekends. Now if only there was more time to have read then it would have been perfect. Though this long weekend will have a lot of reading. 😉
Woohoo! I also have a 4 day work week. I hope it goes by fast. 😀
Woohoo! Anything fun planned? Hopefully it will fly by and the long weekend goes really slow!
You made so many delicious things over the weekend! The soup looks SO good!
Thank you. It was really fun, but now I need to RUN!!! Haha!
I cannot wait for tomorrow’s post because that soup looks sooooo good!!!!!!! My mouth is watering just waiting for that recipe!
Such pressure!! Haha! Just kidding hope you like it! 😉
Oh my gosh, girl. Hoaders?! I HAVE to change the channel. That show grosses me out big time. Sounds like you had a great weekend!
It motivates me too clean! I am horrified but at the same time fascinated.
Oh this sounds like such a cozy weekend. Love it. I can’t wait to see all of your recipes.
It was much needed and I got so much done!
Your soups sound delicious, but I hear you on not wanting to spend that long making something! I have a few recipes that I only whip out on special occasions that are super time consuming. I need to pull out the rest of my fall decor too, I was too lazy to do it this weekend and just put out the new stuff we got haha. Oops! I also need to watch Hocus Pocus!
Yes, it was good to make it even if just for the leftovers and special occasions. Haha! At least you have a few things out. Watching Hocus Pocus is a tradition! 😉
That soup looks incredible, and I love the adorable bowl you used for serving!
Thank you, it was delicious. It was a Marshall’s find!
I get that way in the fall too. I think the heat zaps my energy and the cool weather puts some pep back in my step 🙂 And I think I need that chorizo soup real bad. Looking forward to the recipe!
The heat of the summer makes me lazy. I just want to sit on a beach, where Fall I want to see and do everything. Thank you, considering I just tossed a bunch of things in a crockpot I was happy with it!
Sounds like a great weekend. 🙂 I nest in the cooler weather too. Can’t wait for that soup recipe…it looked amazing! Have a wonderful week!
Thank you. It was perfect. It was exactly what I needed. Hope you have a great week!
I get so sucked into shows like Hoarders. It makes me feel better about my own life but its also just so darn captivating for some reason.
Agree, like my house isn’t that dirty so no stress, I’ll clean tomorrow. It’s heartbreaking too because it is almost always the cause of a traumatic event. The heart and mind are fragile.
I loooove Hocus Pocus! Seriously one of my fave movies EVER! Can’t wait to bust it out this year!!!! 😀 😀 😀
I forgot this is your week where you’ll have Fri off and then Mon off, too! HOLLAAAAAAA!
It was on all weekend and even today! So cute! Heck ya!!! Can’t wait to get out and enjoy it!
Everything you ate looks like such delicious, fall food! I love it!
Thanks! I am getting in the fall spirit for sure!
hehe nesting is wonderful! Looks like a cozy weekend. I want to see the leaves change colors! Still hasn’t happened here in NYC.
When I was driving the highway this morning I was marveling over the red, yellow and oranges from the trees. The perfect time of year, hopefully NYC gets it together! Haha!
When fall comes I start to want to do ALL the crafts that I don’t have time to do. Your food all looks really good!
Yes, I get this energy to create, and bake and do so much. That is the best compliment thank you!!
I’m sorry I’m so late in reading this, but happy weekend (for you)!
That coffee looks SO good right now. My mouth is watering. I legit think I’m going to Starbucks right now to get a drink. Because I am not as talented as you to make my own lol.
Thanks for linking up for MMG 🙂
No worries. It is so good, seriously make it! I have had it twice now. It is better than any Starbucks drink! It really is just a spoonful of butterscotch syrup and caramel syrup and whipped cream.
You just gotta love Seamus’ little face!! too cute!
Can you believe it, he turns 9 on Wednesday.
That soup sounds phenomenal! I’m going to have to figure out how to do it in a crock pot because this chick right here is lazy!
It would be so much better in a crockpot because it was too much work. Haha!
