I am not sure where this weekend went but I know most of it was taken up with more work on my office. I replaced a desk that took up one whole wall with a smaller vanity. This will make room for the chaise that is supposed to be delivered on Wednesday. While the room still has a lot of work to be done including getting rid of a lot of excess craft supplies, and building the shelves I mentioned here, it is coming together.
I think a yard sale is going to be in order after all this is done.

While I was waiting on the stain to dry I had a Beermosa, thanks to Laura from Life With Lolo for posting about it. I will try it will a sweeter beer next time but really good.
Sunday morning started like any other, with a coffee and a book. Thanks to Kristen for gifting me this book after seeing my library have over 1000+ people waiting on the book. I was getting a little confused at the beginning because of the time switches but it is really good so far.
I was hoping to take a lawn care class at Lowe’s this weekend but time got away from me so I will have to try again next weekend but I am seeing flowers come up. So excited to get it together so I can sit outside again.
I also got addicted to The Blacklist. I was recording the new season but I needed to start from the beginning and I love it!

After measuring the space and figuring out the measurements I would need for all the pieces I headed to Lowe’s and got the pieces cut. I used the Truss Desk from Shanty2Chic for the basis and adjusted as needed leaving out the cross beam design since it was much smaller in size. For the free design go here. My final measurements was 35″ Wide x 24″ Deep and 28″ Tall. All the wood for this project cost less than $30.00, everything else I needed I had on hand.

When I was moving my yarn to a new basket, Seamus decided he wanted to help. Side Note: I think I need to start knitting again so I can get rid of this yarn, or maybe some yarn wreaths???

How was your weekend?
Linking up with Biana from B Loved Boston.
Great job on that desk! You definitely have something going here. I can’t wait to see what’s next. Have a great week!
Thank you!! I have the floating shelves to build next which will be the finishing touches on this room! I am ready for it to be done! Ha!
Wow! So impressed. I would love to attempt building a table from scratch. Yours looks great!
It is not as hard as I thought it would be, and it’s easier when you get Lowe’s or Home Depot to cut most of the wood for you.
Gorgeous job! I love it. I love The Blacklist. We have been watching in real time!!! James Spader is awesome.
Can’t wait to see the chaise! Have a great week!
Love,SMD’s Momma
Thanks! It is such a good show I started from the first season on Netflix and almost finished. Will have some catching up to do, but I love it. Have a great week!
yes, girl!! so awesome that you can do a for real DIY. i say ‘for real’ because carpentry is the real deal. i love the vanity!! i esp love the stain.
This did make me feel kinda legit!!! Thank you. I am so in love with it. Doing my makeup this morning felt so decadent. It is the same one from the desk I build and the bench I built awhile back. That stain is my favorite.
Wow, I am super impressed with your DIY skills! That vanity looks awesome!!
Thank you so much! I am certainly learning as I am going for sure.
I just love little Seamus! Rock on girl with the table building! The most I have ever built were cornhole boards haha! Have a great week!
Thank you! Cornhole boards is a gret project. That is on my list for this summer. Hope you have a great week!
I love the stain on the vanity! Great job.
Thank you. It’s the same stain I used on the desk.
I love the vanity table! Maybe you should build more furniture and sell that at your yard sale too. 🙂
That is a great idea!!
Good job on the vanity. I love it!
Thank you. i am so proud of it.
That desk is fantastic!! Great job. You totally should make another one and sell it to me!! hahaha
Haha! I can’t thank you enough for thinking it is good enough to sell! Made my day!
WOW love the table!!! You did a great job
Thank you so much! It was my first major project but it didn’t take too long.
I don’t know why I continue to be so impressed with your building skills since all of your stuff is never anything less than amazing! Great job!!!
Thank you so much! It is fun being able to build what I need as I need it.
You are seriously so handy dandy lately!! All your pieces are turning out beautifully!! And now you’re making me want a beermosa….;)
Thank you. I am loving it. So much fun creating something. It was so good and I am sure a less tart beer will be even better.
I love that you build things. I think it’s awesome.
I enjoyed the first season of The Blacklist but the second season is boring the crap out of me. If there’s a third season, I hope it’s better.
Thank you. I am so proud of how this room is coming together, it feels so much more grown up.
Oh man. I am halfway through the first season, I think the 3rd season is on the air now. Hopefully it isn’t too bad.
Can’t wait to hear what you think of the Girl on the Train!
So far so good, though the time switching is a little confusing.
That vanity looks amazing!!! I love the color of stain you used. I wish I was half that crafty. I think I am afraid of power tools? I need to overcome that bad! Or get you to come build me one! Haha 🙂 Seamus is adorable as always….and I saw Laura’s beermosa and I have got to make myself one! Hope you have a great week!
Thank you. Power tools can be scary at first but you just learn them one tool at a time! Haha! It was so good, i wish I used a different beer but it was still good, just more OJ.
That table looks awesome! You did a great job!
Thank you! It’s really making the room come together.
you are absolutely amazing – i wish i was as awesome as you and could build things. the vanity looks fabulous!
the girl on the train as confusing at first for me as well but it gets better! hopefully you like it 🙂
Awww thanks girl. It was easier once all the pieces were cut. It is confusing since it jumps around but it is good so far.
Wow can’t believe you made that table! I love that color finish and the sort of rustic look.
Thanks, putting on my makeup this morning was so exciting.
That is an awesome book!
I try to build things but it doesn’t go well. I wish I could build things!
I haven’t had as much time to get into it but it is good so far. i get so nervous about trying them and trust me there have been Oops moments for sure, most are fixable though.
Girlfriend you rock!! That is SO awesome! Love how dark the stain is too!
Thank you! It is becoming my most favorite stain. It’s called Mission Oak. Love it.
You’re a badass!! That table looks amazing! You did such a great job.
Those shoes are fabulous! Baked Chickpeas, sounds really good. Congrats on moving to WordPress!!
I wish I could build things but sadly I know I would cut off my hand or something. That looks great!!! Mmmmm… beermosa:)
I was so worried I would too but the more you try the more confident you get in it. I have made plenty of mistakes along the way for sure. Beermosa was really good and fun to try with different beers.
your vanity turned out GREAT! don’t you love being able to DIY? and to have the stuff to do it!!
Thank you! I love being able to build what I want to fit my spaces.
The Girl on the Train is on my reading list. I really hope you like it!!
I am struggling with it but I hear it gets better!
Love the vanity – you are awesome!!!
And, a beermosa?! Definitely going to have to try that!!!
Haha! Thanks! It was so good, and looking forward to trying it with different beers.
you’re way cooler than me. can i come to your yard sale when you have it? ha
Haha! I don’t know about being cooler than you, but you can sure come to the yard sale! 😉
Wow, that vanity came out looking amazing!!! Awesome job. I definitely miss the crocuses, they’re my favorite first sign of spring in New England 🙂
Thank you. I am so happy with it. Spring is finally here!!
Dang girl good job!!
And as always, love the puppy pix!
Thank you! I am loving it.
You are SO awesome! That table looks absolutely incredible. I can’t believe you built it for around $30. And you know how much I enjoy seeing Seamus! 🙂 Hope you’re having an awesome week, lady! xo
Thank you. It was so much cheaper to make it and I love that is custom to my space. He is a little cutie! 😉 Have a great week!
Wow, I love that you’re doing all this yourself! The table turned out beautifully. I wish I had the patience and know-how to get all handy and crafty but I just don’t. And yippee for the crocus picture! Seeing the first perennials pop up always gives me such a hopeful feeling.
Thank you. I love being able to make something myself. It have had to learn a lot along the way, and lots of mistakes have happened! It is making me so happy to finally see some signs of Spring!
The vanity looks great! A solid piece. Love the color!
Thank you. It is my favorite stain color.
I wish I was crafty like that! I can’t believe the wood for the table was only $30! Something like that in a store would be at least 4 times that!
It was so much cheaper than buying and trying to find the size I wanted would have taken forever if at all. I just love it and doing my makeup is now a highlight of the day.
YEY!! Get it girl!! The desk looks great 🙂
Thank you!! I am so happy with how the office is coming along!
You continue to amaze me with your handywoman skills!! I love the color of stain you’re using. Do you mind sharing what one it is??? Nick is going to build us behind the sofa tables and that stain is perfect!!
Thank you. I used the MinWax PolyStain in Mission Oak. It is my favorite stain, I actually just bought a second tub of it.
So sweet of Kristen to gift you the book. Thats lovely. You know Im in awe of you being able to build things – that came out perfectly. Seriously if i live near you, Id come learn a few tricks!
It was so sweet of her. Thank you. I would teach you for sure. So many things to build so little time!
