It was my first day of school and I was excited. Standing at the bus stop at the top of the street with my best friends and neighborhood kids. A reporter stopped by and asked my Mom if they could take my picture. It ended up on the front page. Back to school when I was that young was always an excited time for me. I loved school and learning. It wasn’t till I was older when the real homework started so it still had that excitement to it.

That dress too was one of my favorites. The rose… yeah that was my Mom’s doing, I swear I wasn’t that much of a brown noser.
Linking up with Elle for Behind The Pic.

Do you remember your first day of school?
We you excited or did you dread it?

I love this! So cute! I see the same look of excitement on the faces of the kiddos at my school. And maybe an air of uncertainty too. Anxious optimism, maybe. I love the rose…so precious. What a great post idea! Have a great day!
Yes that is a good way to put it. Excited but nervous of what was to come.
thank you for linking up, kerry! you looked too adorable–no wonder they wanted your pic!
Awww thanks. I was just so excited I don’t think he could have refused.
um, how adorable are you! love the story behind this pic. hahahaha @ the rose.
Awww thanks. Haha, My Mom was a smart woman.
Look at you famous lady!! Such a cute photo! xo, Biana
Haha! Just a blip but it was pretty cool. My Dad ended up buying like 12 copies or something like that, I have a few originals.
Seriously… you were so freakin’ cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awww thanks. As opposed to now?! ;P
haha you were such a cute kid!!!! i love that pic.
Thank you. I was a little pip squeak back in the day.
What a priceless picture!! I am in my 59th year, so remembering back that far is hit or miss. My parents did not take a lot of pictures which was a sign of the times. I do remember going to kindergarten in a taxi with
other kids. There was no kindergarten in our close-to-home elementary school, one car families at that time necessitated sharing a taxi!! Love that you brought a rose to your teacher!
Awesome memory- thanks for sharing!
Love, Steph’s Momma
OMG a taxi?! Now the buses stop every 50 feet! Sign of the times for sure. Such fond memories.
Maybe you started the first day of school pics trend lol
Yes I am going to make that claim from now on, or the next time I see one on Facebook! Haha!
Look at you – front page – already a super model at a young age 🙂
love the rose touch – smart mom! 🙂
Haha! It was obviously a slow news day! 😉 Very smart, my first grade teacher was awesome too.
You might not be a brown noser but you’re still sweet enough to bring a rose!
Awww thanks, you are too kind!
Such a fun post – what an adorable pic <3

Thank you. I have a few copies of it lying around.
I loved the first day of school when I was little, but once I got to High School that love quickly disappeared and then reappeared in College. I love that you brought a rose for your teacher! So sweet!
Yes. I loved it in junior high, high school not so much, college was good. Cycle of fun! My Mom was smart she taught me to bribe them early! 😉
Yayyyy for being famous as a kid! I love the picture, you can see how excited you were!
It was short lived for sure. I was so excited, I think more to wear my dress. Haha!
I love the rose, that is too cute!!!! I remember when school used to be exciting. Those were the days!
Those were the days. I love learning but I couldn’t imagine going back to school.
Nice you made front page! Cute photo.
It was pure luck! Thanks! 😉
I love that you took a flower to school, that’s such a sweet thing to do and what an absolutely awesome memory to have documented!
It was totally my Mom’s doing but it won me brownie points! Haha!
SO darling! I was rockin’ a side ponytail for my first day of school, and I was wearing a dress that my Memaw sewed for me specifically for the special occasion. I remember fondly those early years when wearing something that was handmade was really special to me. Then, I got older and worried about wearing the “right” clothes. Now, I wish I had my grandmothers to sew for me. Well, we learn from school and from experience, don’t we?
That is awesome that she made them. It is a shame we start to outgrow those simple things but glad you can appreciate it now.
This is so adorable!
Thanks! It was a good moment.
That is so cool! I would have been so excited to be in the newspaper. Love back to school.
It was exciting and my Dad was overly excited too. He bought so many copies.
How cute! This picture is adorable!
Thank you. It is one of my favorites.
That picture is too cute.
I don’t remember my first day at school.
I don’t remember much but I do remember that moment. My teacher too.
This is pretty much the best! How adorable!
Awww thanks. It kills me how little I looked.
