Happy Humpday everyone! I am back to work and have a lot of work to catch up on so it may take me a bit to get caught up however I have a few confessions to make so read on…
* I confess that I am working today even though it is snowing like crazy and I got stuck in the snow at one point on the way.
* I confess that even though I am a positive upbeat person things still get me down. Like my basement being gutted and having to pay over $1000 for plumbing. It is going to be a long process and waiting for the insurance to pay so I can get started on the repairs will take weeks.
* I confess that even after almost 12 hours of people in and out of my house I was talking to the plumber and he said “I can tell you are a positive person because you are still able to smile even after a long day” and that made me smile even more.
* I confess it could have been a lot worse and for that I am grateful. I can afford the repairs, even if I don’t want to pay them. My house will get new flooring in the basement and a new ceiling. The bathroom will be re-done and will be better for when I want to sell.
* I confess there is always a silver lining in every bad situation you just have to find it.
What are your confessions?

i love this kerry – so much positivity in a situation that sucks ass. it’s snowing like a mofo here too – we are expecting 20cm (7inches+) of snow and i’m here at work. damn, it took me a long time to get here and normally, it takes me 20mins when i leave at the time that i do.
Kerry says
Thanks girl! It is hard sometimes but there is always a positive! Be careful driving home! It was a rough commute and a lot of people getting stuck. The roads weren’t even plowed yet. Hopefully they are plowed when we go home! Glad you made it safe and sound and in a warm office!!

House repairs are no fun… hang it there!
Kerry says
Thank you. It is such a process, but i am looking forward to the re-build. Picking out tile and flooring is kinda fun.
Morgan says
I love your positive spirit! You are so right, there is always a silver lining no matter the situation. Good luck with all the repairs and stay warm in the snow!
Kerry says
Thank you! It will be fun picking out tile and flooring.
Kelly Rodriguez says
I confess that even though I prefer pool days to snow days, I’m thrilled to be home today, because my husband has a snow day too…unheard of with his job. Silver lining. 🙂 Stay safe and warm.
Kerry says
That is so great that you two are getting to enjoy a snow day together!! That is indeed a silver lining! Enjoy some hot cocoa for me! 😉
Ashley says
I love your positivity! You are continuously an inspiration to me. Happy Hump Day!
Kerry says
Thank you so much!! I give myself time to be upset about it, but it never lasts and I move on to how it can be a good thing. Hope you have a great rest of the week!
Erin says
that is so sweet that that guy said that to you and I have no doubt you are a friggen delight to work for!! I hope some of the repair dudes are hot!! talk about silver lining??
Kerry says
Haha! Thanks! That compliment made a really long day (the workers were in my house from 9:30am to 8:30pm) a little more bearable. Trust me I can lay the hammer when it’s needed. 🙂 I did see some plumber’s crack but at least it was one of the younger guys! 😉
Kristin says
Aww I hope things get better with the remodel. It’s always hard and there are always hidden expenses. But it’s worth it in the end!!!
Kerry says
Thank you! I expect it to be quite a project, but I know I will be happy in the end. My insurance will cover a good portion so I am lucky.
Sharon says
You have such a great attitude! I love that you see the positives in every situation even when it’s hard to find.

Kerry says
Thank you!! Sometimes it is hard, but I think it all works out in the end so being miserable in the middle isn’t worth it!
Lauren says
Stay safe in the snow! I have been there with the home repairs and I feel your pain! Maybe this remodel will make your bathroom the cutest in the house and it will be what seals the deal for a potential future buyer, who knows? Way to stay positive!
Kerry says
Thanks girl! I hated the tile in that bathroom (an ugly pink) so it could very well be a blessing and I will finally update that bathroom. It can’t hurt for the resale value. It will be slow going on the way home but I will drive slow and safe! Thanks!
Jessica says
I love your positivity about this situation! You’re right — there’s always a silver lining. In this case, it might be newer, prettier things! New is always exciting right?
Kerry says
Yes, they are actually going to be removing a lot of things that I didn’t really care for in the place anyways like the floor in the basement and the tile in the bathroom. So it really is a good thing. Besides the mold will be removed and I wouldn’t have to stress about getting sick from it. Always a positive.
Kate @ Another Clean Slate says
Seriously, Kerry- your positivity is incredible! I’m working from home today because I was not feeling a commute through the snow- be safe!!
Kerry says
Thank you so much!! I give myself a good pout and move on. Nothing is worth being miserable for long! 🙂 Bundle up under the covers for me. It was a total mess on the roads, most weren’t plowed so you are very smart for staying home.
Chloe says
I love your positivity! It’s a beautiful thing. And think, you can get your bathroom however you like it now! Woop woop. That’s every girl’s dream.
Kerry says
Thank you. Yes, being able to finally get rid of that ugly pink tile is a blessing!
Amanda says
I believe in the silver linings, too! LOVE your positive attitude… it’s easy for anyone and everyone to recognize! 🙂
Kerry says
Thank you. I like dropping crazy positive sprinkles and then running for cover! 😉
SMD @ Life According to Steph says
Sometimes it takes a while to find the silver lining, and that’s okay. I am a realist – sometimes there is no positive to a situation and it either takes a while for the door that’s been opened to present itself or to just be well with something and move on.
Kerry says
Exactly, it may not come right away but sometimes you look back maybe even years and say ahh that is why that happened. But you are very right, if you can’t find it move on, staying in the negative spot does nothing for you (figurative) and those around you.
Ashley says
Boo I am so sorry that you are dealing with all of that right now 🙁 But I think your positivity is awesome and it has to make the whole thing so much better! And it will all be over soon!
Kerry says
Thank you. Yes, it helps not to dwell. It will all work out in the end and the bathroom will get done better than it was before so that is a bonus.
allison says
I totally believe in silver linings. Just gotta keep your eyes open 🙂
Kerry says
Yes, they are there you just gotta look hard enough to find them.
Stephanie says
You really are a positive photos because those photos alone are making me panic and if I were in that situation, I’d be bitching to any and everyone within a 2 mile radius.
Kerry says
Haha!! I am avoiding looking at them when I can, I miss being able to use my basement but it will be good as new soon enough. Though not having my place back to normal is making me a little anxious. Working on my patience.
Helene says
agreed, there is a silver lining but sometimes it really is so hard to find!
Kerry says
Sometimes it is really hard to find, but that is when you just have to look deeper or have patience! 😉
Amber says
Oh man, yes, house repairs can be tough. I’m glad you can stay positive though. I’m not sure if I could. I tend to panic if I ever have to pay over $100.
Kerry says
It will be hard to deal with but knowing it will work out takes some of the stress away. The money is a concern especially with only one income but I am lucky enough to have insurance that will cover most of it.
Leeann @ Join the Gossip says
Man that stinks but I guess getting angry and stressed really doesn’t help so good for you being able to stay positive. I’m working on that, one day I’ll get to where you are 😉
Kerry says
Getting stressed and angry though it feels good for a few minutes doesn’t solve anything. I try and give my self a time limit on my anger and stress. Like an hour or a day, but then that is it, full steam ahead on finding a solution and making it work. You will get there, practice makes perfect!
Stacia says
I’m amazed by how good your attitude is with this whole thing! I hope insurance pays quickly so it can be completely over and done with!
Kerry says
Thank you. Hopefully they will pay out within a few weeks. I can’t wait to get started on putting it back together. I don’t do well when my house is disorganized.
Heather (@mylittlehea) says
I loved his comment to you! You are so positive and even keeping your cool after such a long day is hard for positive/happy people! Hopefully the parts you’re redoing will be enjoyable picking out the new stuff!
Kerry says
It was such a compliment. I did have to call the guy doing the demo and give him a piece of my mind (I can be a little pitbull when needed) so it wasn’t sunshine and roses all day, but overall I didn’t let it get me down and everything was resolved. Picking out the new stuff will be kinda fun. I may pay out of pocket for a new sink and vanity to update the bathroom which I have been meaning to do anyways.
