Happy Monday! I am really not ready for this week to begin but I am hoping it goes by quickly. I finally have a completely free weekend coming up and aside from a haircut I have no plans. Well I am jumping ahead so why don’t I get to what I did this weekend.
Friday: I spent the night making the birthday cake for the construction themed party. I did a base cake with a layer of Oreos and then baked another cake to use for the “mounds” and topped with Oreo dirt.
Saturday: I had to leave early so I was up at 6am so I could leave by 7 am so I could drop my car off at the shop. It was not good news and it was really expensive. I still have to do one side of my struts but since it was going to be like another $500 I decided to wait since the other side was actually broken and I needed the 3 new tires so I was already well over budget. Seamus likes to lay in my lap on the ride down. I took him to my Dad’s since it was going to be a long day and he gets to play with my Dad’s dog.
I caught a ride with my second Mom and Pop T. their Daughter in Law and her daughter and we had a lot of laughs on the way up. The birthday party was a lot of fun and Lynnie did such an amazing job decorating and even had a wrecking ball in the living room which was a huge hit! The cake was a hit and people told me I needed to open a shop. I ended up getting home at 6pm and since it was raining I was a little tired and may have taken a nap. 😉
Sunday: This was my day of rest and it was fabulous. I finished my book, cleaned around the house, and made some Cauliflower soup. Since it was a rainy day I spent the rest of the day watching movies and the Walking Dead.
How was your weekend?

Whoa, have you blogged that soup recipe?! It looks so yummy! Love that cake for a construction themed party! What a cute idea. Hope you have a great week! I always looks forward to the upcoming weekends where I have NOTHING – I like to be busy but those random weekends are so relaxing.
I am posting it tomorrow. It was so good and a little bit of a kick to it. They are the best weekends and I have been on the go for so long i am going to enjoy being lazy.
yay! what a great weekend; you deserve it after the crap week you had last week. i haven’t watched TWD yet and i’ve stayed off twitter to avoid any spoilers but i’ll be watching it tonight.
great cake you made – i want some!! nom nom
It was a rough Season but I did like the end. I won’t spoil it for you though. It was crazy putting it together but it ended up really well.
That cake looks fabulous! Glad you had such a great weekend- I’m curious, what book did you finish? Was it good?
Thank you so much! I just finished The Stranger You Know by Jane Casey. It started off really slow and I almost quit reading it, but the second half really picked up and I am glad I read it.
busy weekend as always! glad you got a chance to rest. i am hoping to next week!
Thank you. Sunday was a little restful but I am looking forward to next weekend too. Hopefully we can both just relax for once and do NOTHING! 🙂
Let’s discuss The Walking Dead. I still kind of hated it. My husband has read the books so he thinks he knows what’s happening at Terminus… Also the cake icing looks like chocolate pudding which is a good thing. Good job!
I kinda liked it but it was more of a teaser to be like FINALLY it is going to get good. It was such a smooth chocolate icing. Thank you.
All of the food looks delicious and that cake looks lovely!
Thank you so much! It was fun putting it together.
That soup looks like the perfect rainy day meal, yum! I’m glad you had fun at your party and that your cake was a hit!
It was so perfect for warming me up on a rainy day. Thank you so much it was a blast!
I love your soup bowl, and the soup looks good too. Cauliflower soup is one of my favorites.
Great job on the cake!
Sorry about the car expenses, that sucks!
Thank you. I loved it and I added a little hot sauce so it had a little kick to it. Yeah it was a bummer but at least it is done.
Mmm that cake looks so yummy! That photo of Seamus in the car is too cute!
Thank you, it was fun to make it. He is such a pain if he doesn’t get to sit in my lap so it is the only way he is calm.
I need to hear more about this cauliflower soup!!!!!
It was so good girl! I am posting the recipe tomorrow.
I’m seriously so sad the weather was so crappy here all weekend, but they say we’re in the high 50’s this week!! The cake looks so good and I’m sure they loved it!! Sounds like a perfect weekend!
I am really hoping we get some sunny days. Thank you, I loved making it.
I need to catch up on the Walking Dead. I haven’t watched at all this season. And yum- the cauliflower soup sounds delish!
It was a rough Season but last night was so good! It was so good. I’ll be posting the recipe soon!
Ummmmm….. how cute is that soup crock? I have a total soft spot for stuff like that.
I think i got it at Home Goods. They just make it more fun to eat out of right?!
That cake looks go great!! You did awesome! Oreos…girl you’re speaking my language.
Thank you! The Oreos really made it so good! 🙂
Love the construction cake! Nom nom nom lol
Sucks about your car. Hopefully it gets fixed soon. Thanks for linking up as always 🙂
Thank you it sure was a hit. 🙂
That soup looks DIVINE! I sure hope you post a recipe for that one! 🙂
You know it! 🙂 It will be posted tomorrow.
That cake is so adorable…and the soup looks amazing!
Thank you. The soup was really good with a little kick.
I saw your chocolate cake on instagram over the weekend and my mouth started watering! Hope you’ll also share the cauliflower soup recipe too!!
Thank you! Of course! I’ll be sharing it tomorrow.
That soup looks yummy! And I liked TWD finale. Glad badass Rick is back!!!
Thank you. It was nice to see him get his fire back! now I am sad we have to wait till the fall to see a new episode. 🙁
You seem to have mentioned cake but like everyone else, all I want is that soup. Damnit. Now.
It was so good I had it for dinner again tonight. 🙂
Chocolate Cake….Yum! One of my dessert weaknesses….
You really can’t go wrong with Chocolate cake.
That soup sounds delicious and that cake looks like chocolate heaven for me to just dive into!
The soup was so good I am glad I made enough for the rest of the week. You just can’t go wrong with chocolate cake.
Nice job with the cake! Did you see the article today online that alleges Breaking Bad is actually the Walking Dead prequel? I’ve never seen WD. My husband likes BB, but I haven’t watched that one either. If it’s not Scandal (or lately, Resurrection) or on Food Network, I’m out of the loop. 🙂 Looking forward to the soup recipe.
I didn’t see that but in the Talking Dead with the creator he mentioned Breaking Bad which is kinda funny. The Food Network really is an addiction. 🙂
On your car. I know it is expensive to care for our cars, but they are so vital to our lives. Therefore, I name our cars and thank them, drive them nicely, maintain them! Everything has energy. I am in the habit of thanking all of my stuff. It’s nice and they seem to last longer!!!! It’s all about the gratitude!
Have a happy day!
Love, SMD’s momma!
They are so important. I am hoping for a recall so I can get reimbursed since it seems to be happening a lot lately according to my mechanic.
What a cute birthday cake! Looks like a fun celebration.
Thanks for linking up!
Thank you. It was a lot of fun!
That soup and cake look amazing and I agree with your family, you should open a shop. I can’t believe now you’re having issues with your car!!! UGH!!!
Thanks girl! It has been one thing after the other, I’m exhausted. This too shall pass, right?!!
What a cute construction themed cake! The themed birthday cakes my mom always made for me growing up are still some of my favorite memories!
Thank you. It was so fun to make it. It was a stretch for me so it was good practice and they seemed to like it.
