For most of my life my hair has been long. Only twice in my life I have cut 6-10 inches off and regretted it each time. My hair was just made to be long. My hair is a little wavy so I can either wear it curly or straight. I try to not use too many products at once time, but have a varied depending on how I style my hair.
I try not to use a flat iron anymore because it really does a lot of damage. So I either use mousse to scrunch it curly or use a round brush and blow dry it straight. I will use a curling iron to get nice beachy waves. Depending on which style I am going with, the products vary. Here are some of my favorite products that I have purchased 3-4 times so they are tried and true. I should mention I didn’t include a picture but I swear by Pantene Moisture Renewal Shampoo and Conditioner.
Leave Ins
The Pantene BB Creme is a great leave in conditioner. It repairs, protects, adds shine and smooths flyaways. This is a little on the thicker side so I use this if I wash my hair at night or if putting my hair in a braid or ponytail.
Sebastian Potion 9 I have been using since college and I love it. It is light weight but really coats the hair but still really light and doesn’t feel greasy or filmy.
Healthy Sexy Hair – I got this in my last Ipsy bag and I fell in love with it, even more so than the It’s a 10 products.
Serums
Organix Coconut Milk Serum – I will smooth one or two pumps of this after I blow dry to add some shine and leave it silky smooth.
TRESemme Cashmere Touch Serum – Is my second choice when I am out of the Organix Serum. Both work well but the Organix is my first choice.
Curling
Garnier Fructis Curl Construct – This is my favorite curling mousse. It really makes my curl spring into curls. It does give that wet scrunchy look if you use too much so just depends what you are going for look wise.
Hairspray
Big Sexy Hair – I will use this if I am looking for all day hold for my curls and I don’t mind it being stiff.
Pantene Touchable Finish – This has really good hold but more movement and less sticky.
Dry Shampoo
Not Your Mother’s Dry Shampoo – I really like this dry shampoo because it really blends well.
Heat Protection Spray
Aussie Hair Insurance – It really helps lock in the moisture. I will usually spray this on just after the leave in and only on the ends of my hair where it is most likely to get damaged.
What are your go to hair care products?
Have you used any of the ones I currently use?

Kerry, cherish your hair and it’s awesome growth. I am grateful for what I have, taking biotin, and trying to eat better, to improve what I can. So many women have hair extensions today, it’s crazy. That’s just too much! Thanks for your tips. I have used Natural Instincts to color my hair for over 15 years. I went lighter and roots are almost non-existent. I have a stylist who applies it for me every 5 weeks along with a weeny trim!! My bangs always grow!!!! It is natural and really inexpensive and QUICK!
Thanks for your tips!
Love, SMD’s momma

Biotin is really good for getting it to grow! Natural Instincts is a great brand! I really must trim my hair more often, thanks for reminding me. 🙂

You make me miss my long hair! I wish I could just wake up and it would be long again!
Kerry says
I wish I was more adventurous, but I just really like it long on me. If only it would grow that fast!

I love that these are mostly drug store products! I am a sucker for the organix serum too. I really need to try out the healthy sexy hair leave in conditioner–I just ran out of my it’s a 10 and I wasn’t really all that thrilled with it for the price. There’s a leave in conditioner (it’s a little pricey but worth every penny) by earthly body called marrakesh high tide leave in conditioner and it changed my hair drastically! It’s hard to find in stores but easily purchased online. I bought the it’s a 10 last time instead of re-ordering my old faithful and I think it was a mistake. I’ll try the healthy sexy hair one first–but I might just go back to the high tide!

I am a total drug store junkie. I have the it’s a 10 but I got the Healthy Sexy Hair and I have to say I love it more than it’s a 10 and cheaper too. I put it on and my hands glided over my hair it locked in so much moisture without feeling weighed down or filmy.

Ooo look at all these fun new things for me too try! I use the same dry shampoo. I don’t style my hair often, I wash it at night 3 times a week (sometimes 2 if I can get away with it) and put it up in a clip to dry overnight. Waves when I wake up 🙂 I curl it on the weekends, like for a saturday night out, but even then sometimes I’m lazy and twist it up for a few hours and let it down just before the bar for pretty waves!
Kerry says
That is why I love long hair! I can easily put it up if I don’t want to style it. I usually curl it on day 2 hair since it holds better and longer. I try to do the least amount so I don’t damage it. Your hair is gorgeous so you are doing it right!

I love Not Your Mother’s Dry Shampoo! I will have to try the Garnier mousse for scrunching!
Kerry says
I love their Dry Shampoo and it blends in so well. I love it for scrunching it really holds the moisture in for really defined curls!

I need something for the ends of my hair BADLY. Does the Aussie silken the ends as well?
Kerry says
It is more of a heat protector. I would try the Sebastian Potion 9 if you are trying to correct the ends. I get it at Target but might be at Ulta. It really coats the hair well and helps repair.

Organix Coconut Milk Serum is one of my faves. Their whole coconut line is to DIE for. Some of it is crap, I have to say… but it smells SO DAMN GOOD! The serum and the oil spray are my favorite!
Kerry says
Yes, I don’t go for their shampoo or conditioner since Pantene has my heart but the Serum is the bomb.com!!

some great choices!! i haven’t tried that aussie one!
Kerry says
I can’t imagine there being anything you haven’t tried. Though you always inspire me with your selections.

I’ve only cut my hair short three times, but this coming Fall I’m planning on another short do! Thanks for this list, definitely adding it to Pinterest!
Kerry says
It is hard because every time I cut it I would regret it. My hair is wavy so the length helps to straighten it out a bit. They are tried and true I replace them every time, they are that good. Hope they work for you too.
Stacia says
Love Big Sexy Hair! My hair is currently the longest its been in 5ish years. I always waffle back and forth between long and short.
Kerry says
You are so adventurous with your hair, I love it. I just keep it long and dark since I think that is how it looks best on me.
Melanie @ Ribbons and Rotor Blades says
I’ll have it try the dry shampoo. I hate that they leave a gray hue to my hair but if this blends well I must try it. Thanks!!!!
Kerry says
Yes, I really like it. I have really dark hair and so anything would show up and it really blends well. Plus it is super cheap so if you don’t like it, it doesn’t break the bank.
