I think I really needed this long weekend. I wanted to get maybe way too many projects done and I may have shut down a bit. I still got a lot done but I still have a lot on my list to do as well. Another long weekend might be necessary soon! I’m feeling much better though, more balanced and ready to tackle the week so that is everything.
Saturday morning I finished the book Inside The O’Briens. It was so very sad but it was so good. A look inside a family from Boston dealing with Huntington’s disease. I had never heard of the disease but it is devastating, and effects the whole family.
After finishing the book it was time to plan a new media center. I talked about it on Friday and shared my inspiration piece. I then went to Lowe’s to get the wood. I had lots of casualties and splinters. The wood was much heavier than I expected and should have probably used MDF wood instead. I got a little frustrated at the 3 or 4 hour mark so I called it a day. I need to add the sides, back and top and some trim pieces and it’s done, I just hope it foesn
Sunday morning was some cleaning sessions, then I went for a hike. It was much needed exercise and it also centers me. I hit the grocery store after and then home. More cleaning and relaxing to end the night.
How was your weekend?

The progress on your media center is amazing – so freaking great that you are doing it DIY!!! Happy to hear that you had a great weekend and I say you take a day off soon to enjoy another one! xo, Biana
Kerry says
Thank you! It was much heavier than I was expecting it to be. Yes I need a relaxing weekend where I don’t run around or do projects!

that unit is looking great!! can’t wait to see the finished product.
Kerry says
Thank you. I got really discouraged at one point but hopefully I can still finish. i just needed a break from it!

You are becoming quite the wood worker girly!! Looks awesome!! And I totally found a few old phones myself when going through old boxes… hilarious to look at them to think what was “cool” back then before we got iPhones and Androids haha.
Kerry says
Thank you. This one really tested my skills and patience. Aren’t they so funny to look back on and how much we loved them and where we are now?!
Marie says
Your media center is looking great. Can’t wait to see it all finished.
Kerry says
Thank you. I am excited to get it done but it was a struggle for sure.
Kristen says
that book sounds interesting and i’ve heard good things, but i feel like i have read so many sad books lately and i just need a break lol
Kerry says
It was so good, and I totally recommend have a nice light beach read after to help recover. I read Flipped after and finished in a day, very light and fun! To many sad books are not good, need to space them out. 🙂
Stacia says
Ah! I’m so glad you’re actually going for it and building the entertainment center!
Kerry says
It was an experience. I totally got frustrated since it took a few hours and still not done but I will finish it.

The media center is looking great! Love the pictures from the hike. As soon as I finish reading all of these blogs I’m going to take advantage of my extra days off & head to the park.
Kerry says
Thanks! I am going to like at that park this summer! Ha! Yes, get outside and enjoy it while you can!
Tori@Cupcakes & Crossbones says
Your media center looks amazing! I love the pictures from your walk and Seamus looks happy as always!! =)
Kerry says
Thank you. It was so nice out and loved being able to enjoy it. Seamus was so tired he started to crawl towards the end! I couldn’t help but laugh at him. He napped for awhile after.
Meg Taylor says
Girl, you are amazing – building an entertainment center?? I need to show this post to my husband. SO cool! Have a great, short week!
Kerry says
Awww thanks! Attempting! Haha! It may fail horribly but almost done!
Nichole says
You’re so good about house projects!
Kerry says
Thanks! They feel never ending but I also like doing them too.

Inside the O’Briens is on my list. I’m looking forward to reading it.
Speaking of relics, I was cleaning our garage yesterday and found a walkman! Couldn’t bring myself to throw it away.
Kerry says
It was really good, sad but good. Oh my goodness. You can’t throw it out, that is a collectible.
Amber says
Yum, I love smoothies.
Awesome entertainment center!
Kerry says
They are such a great way to use up fruits and veggies. Thank you. It’s coming along.

Glad you had good weather, perfect for pool days!

It looks like the media center is coming along nicely, even though you got frustrated after awhile. I think it is good to walk away when you feel that way and come back when you are re-inspired. Looks like a great weekend!
Kerry says
It took more than a few hours and lots of splinters. I think walking away was much needed! Ha! Thank you!
jackie says
i’m impressed at your wood working skills! my projects always are harder and take longer than i anticipated too ha oops. good luck on getting it finished up! and love all the old phones. i think i had the same htc slider one.
Kerry says
Thank you. I don’t know why it always takes longer!! Many trips to the tool shed too! That was an oldie but goodie!
Amy @ The Crazy Wise Woman says
Good job on the media center! You got a lot done! I have a whole bunch of old phones too, never know what to do with them. Ha… the Palm Treo… that brings back memories, I loved that phone. Thought it was the shit at the time lol
Kerry says
Thank you. It was a little hectic but good. Man I loved those phones. The old pictures and texts on those phones. Oh boy!
Kate @ Green Fashionista says
Aren’t long weekends the best? We should definitely have more 😉
And ahhhh so nostalgic looking at those old blackberry phones!
Kerry says
We really should! My office is doing early dismissal every other Friday’s this summer so that will help. I remember how excited I was about each one!
ellesees.blogspot.com says
i think you are making great progress. the best thing is, you have plenty of time. but i know how it feels to want to get a project done. glad you got some time to just shut down and shut off for a few. i always love hearing about your weekends.
Kerry says
Thank you! Yes, I just want it done since it is outside and any rain could damage it.
Ashley says
Great job girl! I would have no idea where to start! I’m glad to know I’m not the only one with a pile of old phones.. mine are mostly versions of Blackberry’s with a red LG Chocolate. ( I think thats what it was called) LOL! Seamus sure did enjoy his walk!
Kerry says
Thank you. Progress at least. OMG the chocolate, my Dad had that one and loved it. He was so tired, it was adorable.
Kelly says
That media center is going to be fabulous! You are really developing your skills. It’s exciting to watch it evolve. You’re very talented.
Kerry says
Thank you. I am trying at least, it has been challenging for sure. That is so kind of you to day, thank you!!
Kay R. says
You are an absolute inspiration with your wood work girl. I mean… that looks so intricate I couldn’t even begin to start it. Sorry about your finger though ouch. Glad you had a good long weekend!
Kerry says
Thank you!! I am trying to branch out and get better. Hoping to find a class too soon. I just finally got one of my splinters out!! haha!
Amanda says
Did you power up your phones and look at old shit that’s on them? I tried to do that with my first iPhone when I cleaned the closet the other day but it wouldn’t even do a minimum charge. Can’t decide if that’s good or bad, lol
Kerry says
I didn’t even think to check them. I do have the chargers though. I might have to do that next weekend and just clear them out. I can only imagine what’s on them.
