Every year I give out food gifts to my co-workers. This year I decided to do a muddy buddy recipe. This recipe came from The Recipe Critic and was the perfect recipe for my co-worker gifts. I ended up doubling the recipe because the original recipe only serves 8 people. Since this will most likely be my last post this week I want to wish you all a very Marry Christmas. Enjoy the time with family and friends.
Ingredients: 5 Cups Rice Chex Cereal ~ 23 ounce bag milk chocolate chips ~ 1 cup caramel bits ~ 2 TBSP Heavy Cream ~ 12 Shortbread Cookies (Sandies or Lorna Doones) ~ 1-1/2 cup powdered sugar ~ 3 packages of Twix Bars, chopped (6 sticks)
Directions:
In a big bowl place 5 cups chex cereal. In a microwave safe dish, melt the chocolate chips for 30 seconds at a time until smooth. Be sure and stir after each 30 seconds. Pour the melted chocolate over the cereal and stir until all the cereal is covered.

- Melt the caramel and heavy cream in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time.
- Pour over the chocolate covered cereal mix.
- Lightly fold everything together so that it all mixes together.
- Using a food processor pulse the cookies until fine. If you don't have a food processor just place in a ziploc bag and roll over it with a can or rolling pin.
- Add the powdered sugar to the bag and dump in the chex mix and shake until all the cereal is covered. I did about a half at a time.
- Add the twix to the mix and then serve. I placed them in festive individual sized bags.
It’s probably a good thing you shared this with us this week and not last week because I would have devoured the entire batch!! Sounds and looks so good!! xo, B
I gave them out this morning and I already got a thumbs up. DEvouring them is totally acceptable, I mean it is Christmas! The diet starts after the holidays! 😉
That sounds delicious!! I love the puppy chow made w/ chex but this sounds even better!
With the bits of caramel and the twix it is an indulgence for sure!
i made a big batch of white trash (puppy chow) this weekend, but i need to add muddy buddies to the list!
They are so good but this was the first time I made them myself.
How nice of you!
Merry merry to you and Seamus and your family!
Thanks! Merry Merry Christmas to you, MFD, Gus , Geege and Crazy Mae.
Oh that looks so yummie!!
I refrained from eating too many but it was yummy! 🙂
I thought this was going to be more like our puppy chow recipe, but then I saw the caramel and the pulsing of the chex mix i think so I may have to see about trying this one out!!
It is similar. The pulsing is of the shortbread cookies though. It gets mixed with the powdered sugar for a nice outer layer.
Those sound so good!!!! I love muddy buddies! So sweet to give some to your co-workers!
I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!
They are so good, the powdered sugar over the chocolate. Can you really go wrong?! Haha!
I always say I am going to make something like this and then never do. YUMMMM!
Oh you should. They are pretty easy to make and so worth it!
Ummmmmmm those look so good! I would definitely be a happy coworker if those came my way!
Thanks! I got a thumbs up before I even finished handing them all out! Haha!
YUM! I bake a ton of cookies and feed them to my friends and co-workers every year. Today was delivery day. Have a Merry Christmas!
They are such an easy way to knock off a large group of people! Merry Christmas!
YUM! I’ve never seen this recipe with the cookies or carmel added in but I can only imagine how delicious it tastes!
It was so good. I really recommend making it.
What an AWESOME Muddy Buddy recipe!! I’ve only ever had or made the traditional ones, but these sound AMAZING!! I am the same way and give my co-workers sweets each year 🙂
I can’t take the credit though I did change the amount of the ingredients a bit. I may have snuck a tasting or two. Okay three. 😉 Sweets are the best when giving to a large group.
I should have done something cute like this for my coworkers! All those ingredients together sound yummy!!
It was such a good combination of flavors. I wanted to keep some for myself, but it’s probably best I didn’t! 😉
This is my husband’s favorite holiday snack, they look even better homemade 🙂
Homemade is always better and they weren’t too hard to make.
These look amazing and semi-simple for my non-baking butt. hahaa. I don’t bake for gifts but sometimes I think it would be fun. Until I look at all the ingredients it requires (and I don’t have) then realize there is no way I’ll ever use the ingredients once I buy them. Then change my mind. heheee
Yes! No baking at all just microwaving! The leftovers are hard when you don’t bake a lot but that just means you get to bake again! 😉
These sound amazing! I made some homemade marshmallows for a couple neighbors this year.
That sounds like a great idea. Did you use cookie cutters to make shapes?
Looks delicious! I give cookies all the time throughout the month of December usually to my kids and my parents.
Have a great Christmas!!
Love, SMD’s Momma
Cookies are always welcome here! Hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
mmm look at that magical goodness!!
It was such a good combination and the bits of Twix was nice.
What lucky co-workers you have! These look so yummy! Hope you had a Merry Christmas 🙂

Thanks! It was a fun recipe to try.
This looks so good!!! I wish I saw this earlier i may have even attempted it!
I think this is one you can totally do, mostly just heating up in the microwave and stirring.
I love Muddy Buddies! Caramel in them… GIMMEE!
The caramel brought it to the next level!
Oh, that is so nice of you, you’re a great coworker! 🙂 They look delicious!
Kisses from Zurich,
K
