I have a feeling that for the month of November my Weekend Updates may be really boring! I have a feeling I am kinda nesting. It is getting really cold here, and my friend Lynn even got some snow in New Hampshire! So I will try and spare you from too much boredom!
Friday: After work I was so tired I was practically falling asleep at my desk, so once I got home I took Seamus for a walk, then poured myself a glass of champagne. I am trying a few new brands in preparation for New Years. Never to early to start taste testing, right?! It was decent but don’t think it will make the cut. I also got caught up on my shows that I DVR’d.
Saturday: I can’t say that I took many pictures because I was crazily getting stuff done. I hit some shopping first thing in the morning. First it was to the Christmas Tree Shop to snag a Christmas present for someone. I then went to A.C. Moore for a few supplies for cake decorating class. I then went to the Dollar Tree to pick up some storage bins. I ended up getting about 20 of them. I am using them for my pantry, for my basement, and for my toiletry closet.
After a few hours of doing laundry, cleaning my bathroom, baking cakes for my last cake decorating class (insert sad face), dusting every available surface in my house, and cleaning my humidifiers I watched the movie Mud (with Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon) while re-designing my blog header and sidebar. What do you think of the changes?
Sunday: I tried to hit the grocery store early because Sunday is always a little crazy. Then I had to rake my lawn. In my town the month of November is the only time when they pick up leaves curbside so I have to get it done since I refuse to put them in my car and take it to the dump. After about an hour I filled up 9 bags and ran out so I will have to resume next weekend. Did I mention I don’t have any trees in my yard??? This is all from neighbors trees or overhang from neighbors trees!! (Update: Getting into my car this morning there was a ton of leaves covering what I managed to rake up! 🙁
I cooked up some eggs for egg salad for the week while I took a quick shower. Then I made a quick lunch of egg salad on romaine lettuce leaves.
I then had to make more icing for my class and do a crumb coat on the cakes I made earlier. I put together a new recipe too for Homemade Sausage Stuffing. It was really good, and of course I’ll be sharing the recipe.
The night was filled with dishes, and more dishes and watching some tv while writing a few blog posts. I do not know how people do it! I am just one person and a dog household and I feel like my whole weekend is full of cleaning.
When do you clean?
How do you balance fun with getting chores done?

I got the Brut Barefoot this weekend and used it for mimosas and I liked it for that! Also, I love those bins!
Kerry says
I’ll have to try the Brut! Couldn’t beat it for a $1 a piece. I will be an organizing tazmanian devil!
Nikki @ The Pink Growl says
I love that pink moscato champs!!!
Kerry says
Really can’t go wrong with Champagne, though some are better than others!
Jessica | Wonder What's Next says
You walked away with 20 storage bins?? How much did you end up spending?
Kerry says
They were from the dollar store so only a dollar a piece. I only spent like $23.00.
Rachel G says
I go on cleaning and organizing sprees too–lately a lot of the time, because I have family coming to visit!
Kerry says
It’s perfect for this colder weather. We never clean faster or harder than when company is expected!! Haha!

Looking good! I love finding the time to redesign bits and pieces of my blog. 🙂

Thank you! It seems like I can always tinker with it to make it a little better or different!
SMD @ Life According to Steph says
i mainly break up chores on weeknights so I don’t have to waste the weekend doing them. That way I do a lot of maintenance on the weekend but can use the time to just be or tackle larger projects. I always group certain chores together so nothing gets left out.
Love that argyle box!
Kerry says
The weeknights are usually out for me because I go to the gym, by the time I get home it’s dinner then blogging in front of the TV but I need to try and do at least one chore a day. I can’t believe it was only a dollar! I am going to love organizing with them.
Janna says
I honestly suck at cleaning. I hate it, so I do it in bursts. I wish I was the kind of person that could do daily chores, but instead, I just spend hours at a time scouring the house. I honestly think that I may start having someone come in once or twice a week when we move. Just for the little stuff like dusting and vacuuming. I hate those knit picky chores, but I hate having a dirty house even more, lol.
Kerry says
Me too!!! My weekdays feel so overwhelmingly busy it is hard to find the time. So the weekend is usually my time to get it done! Having someone else do it sounds like a much better deal!!
Jen Herron says
holy moly that’s alot of leaves!! What’s cleaning? 😉 I find myself deep cleaning on weekends and just picking up here and there during the week, it’s a constant job for me to keep up!
Kerry says
There was so many, then I woke up to even more that fell overnight!! 🙁 It is never ending right? I feel like I am complaining but it’s like i can never get it all done!
kathy @ vodka and soda says
i’m the same with weekend recaps…this weekend i didn’t do anything special so no recap for me. as for cleaning, i try and spread it out during the week so that we don’t have to do it all on the weekend. my hubs and i split the chores so things get done faster too!
Kerry says
I so need to try and spread it out!! I workout at night so it is kinda tough to fit it in but I need to come up with a plan.
Sarah says
So many leaves in your area!
I clean every single sunday and if I don’t and have anxiety haha. I need a fresh start to the week. That said, I don’t deep clean every Sunday!
Kerry says
Yes, and they are not done falling either! I am the same way, I like to start the week with a clean house but it is getting overwhelming. I think I need to spread it out a bit. Like laundry and dishes mid week or something.
Stacia says
Egg salad on lettuce is SO good. One of my favorite simple meals.
I love the changes you’ve made around here. The space seems more…present if that makes sense. I’ll keep thinking of how to describe it, but I really like it, and the space feels even more inviting than it already did.
For champagne Michael & I like Andre Spumante Sparkling Wine. I have no idea how much it costs, but we really like it. (We ended up with a case after my last wedding planning gig – no one else wanted it. SCORE!)
Kerry says
It is so good and so quick and easy to make! Thank you, I was a long process of changes.
I will have to check out that sparkling wine, sounds yummy! Who doesn’t want free wine??? Total score!
Amanda Bumgarner says
That’s so many leaves!! Oh my gosh. I’m jealous. In Oklahoma the leaves just fall off the tree and then… disappear I guess. I don’t know where they are, but they aren’t on the ground!
Kerry says
Yes, and they are not stopping yet! I woke up to even more leaves after I just got through raking! 🙁 Where do they go?! I think there is a story there, local reporters need to get on it! Haha!
Maddie says
Things I love about this post: Everything. haha but especially the moscato, dollar tree and obviously Christmas Tree shop!
Kerry says
Moscato is my favorite!! Seriously is there nothing you can’t get at those two places?!
Kristen @ Your Beauty Fix says
I usually clean on Saturday mornings. Theres just something about waking up early and feeling proactive that I love! It doesnt hurt that I get all of the cleaning out of the way and have the rest of the weekend to relax 🙂
Kerry says
That is such a great idea!! I usually spread it out throughout the weekend, but I would love to just get it done!
Kimberlee says
Fall/winter is the perfect time to nest 🙂 That’s a lot of leaves from your neighbors to rake up! I am so not prepared for holiday shopping yet… good on you for getting a head start.
Thanks for linking up 🙂
Kerry says
It is the perfect time! The leaves keep coming too, it almost looks like I didn’t even rake now. I got really lucky since i happened to see something in a flyer, so I snatched it up.
