I have to say this weekend was very relaxing but probably very boring too. I didn’t take very many pictures and I mostly just read.In other words the best weekend for me. π
On Friday I finished Before I Go. It was so good. It didn’t make me ugly cry even though it was about Cancer, but it made me think, laugh, and it moved me.
Since Saturday was overcast it was the perfect day for reading. I started and finished Worth The Fall. I share the cover art for all my squeamish book readers! π It was a fast and quick read, and who doesn’t love a man in uniform that isn’t afraid of kids. Cute, fun, happily ever after.
They only have a week. . . . Abby has brought her children to this beach to start over, to give them the enjoyable memories they deserve. Mattβs been sidelined by a combat injury, and haunted by the best friend he lost and the promise he made: to remain a SEALβfocused and dedicated. This leaves no time for what heβs always wanted: a family.
But a week is all it takes. . . . Matt opens her heart while Abby soothes his soul. And though they plan to say good-bye when the week is over, something magical happens on that beach, something neither can forget. Something utterly, completely worth falling for.
Sunday I started I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell by Tucker Max. He started the genre “Fratire” in which he writes down all the stupid drunken things that happened to him. He is chauvinistic, arrogant, womanizer yet oddly hilarious! I am half-way through and it is funny, but totally offensive too.
I went to my brothers house to celebrate my Sister-in-Law’s birthday. Getting to see my nieces is always a blast. I even indulged in some carrot cake. It warmed my heart when the oldest asked me to brush her hair since she likes how I do it.
I also ran on Saturday and Sunday to get my 10k training moving along. This week it changes from sprinting to running so we shall see how my knee holds up. Overall it was a great weekend.
How was your weekend!
Linking up with Leeann from Join the Gossip and Biana from B Loved Boston.
Biana says

the tucker max book was HILARIOUS. i have never laughed so hard while reading a book. it’s a great beach read π
Kerry says
I think I read it on your recommendation?! Can’t remember. It was really funny and I thought of you when certain stories were told. Utterly gross at time but hilarious!
Kateri Von Steal says
π I love simple weekends and since we had trainpalooza this past weekend, I am hoping for a stress free relaxing weekend this weekend!
Carrot cake is my fav!
Kerry says
Hope trainpalozza was fun! Hope to read about it later. The cake was delish!
tori says

Kerry says
Thank you. They are so cute, and such big personalities!
Maddie says
oh, good ole Tucker. He is the the biggest d*ck I’ve ever met in my life and the most hilarious. I used to run into him all the time when he was at Duke. I cried from laughing that entire book.
Kerry says
Right?! Totally want to throat punch him but oddly hilarious! His friends are funnier then him though. I was wondering if you did with all the Duke and Chapel Hill/Durham references.
SMD @ Life According to Steph says
That cake made me really really want carrot cake last night.
I’m glad you got your reading in!
Kerry says
It was delish. I had a really small piece and it was worth it! I was glad to catch up, I have so many already books waiting to be read. π
Linda Sheridan says
Lots of reading and running for you. A good combo. Healing lights and strength to you to continue
your running schedule. We had a sublime weekend. Friday, outdoor Jazz concert at our local vineyard,
Saturday night Sean’s Red Bull play off game. They won and are regional champs. National semi-finals
this Saturday night at the Red Bull training facility- thank God, lucky to get home field advantage.
Sunday an entire day poolside til 9:30 last night grilling, cocktails, music, swimming. Just divine.
Very grateful! Goddess speed for a beautiful week.
Love SMD’s momma
Kerry says

I’m always looking for new books to read during the summer…I’ll have to check both of those out! Your nieces are so cute!
-Sharon
Kerry says
I was a reading machine! Haha! Thank you, they are adorable and them running out to greet me melted my heart.
Nadine says
I did a lot of reading this weekend as well! I love relaxed chill weekends.
Kerry says
They are the best especially when the weather isn’t as nice.
Lauren says
Okay, so I will have to give that Tucker Max book a shot (I think I have his second book but I can’t remember… it was free).
And sidenote – how awkward do you think that guy felt posing for that book cover? He looks like he needs to see a doctor about an itch…
Kerry says
It is really funny, but also really offensive to most. I don’t get offended easily though. Haha!! That is hilarious! I am sure it was a little awkward.
Emily says
That’s a sexy man right there!
Kerry says
I second that one girl!
Chelsea Jacobs says
Weekends are meant for reading!
Kerry says
They are, and it makes for the best weekends!
Stacia says
It sounds like you finally got in your relaxing weekend! I’m so glad! I’ll have to look into I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell. It sounds like I might be potentially interested in it. Or at least my husband might. π
Kerry says
It was perfect. I love getting a weekend of reading in, especially on a cloudy day. I may have one too many books in my queue. It is really dirty, stupid college humor but it was really funny.
Amanda says
First of all, carrot cake is a disgrace to cakes everywhere. CARROTS DON’T BELONG IN CAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a very sensitive subject for me, in case you couldn’t tell, and I could go on for DAYS.
I heard I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell was good but I never thought of actually reading it until now! I hope it’s better than Hollywood Game Night. ;P
Kerry says
Tell me how you really feel!! Bwahaha! I adore you. It is really raunchy, right up your alley. In one story he poops all over himself so you know story of your life. π
kristen says
both books sound great – will have to check them out! that carrot cake looks yum π
Kerry says
They were both really good, Before I Go really surprised me. It was a slow burn and stayed with me. So good. The other was light, fluffy, fun and sweet. Perfect summer read. I totally splurged and it was worth it! π
Kate @ Another Clean Slate says
The photo of your niece reading is adorable. And count me in as one of the squeamish readers- thank goodness for Kindles!
Kerry says
It was a digital recorder manual, she is such a ham but oh so cute! I was totally think of you for that one, and Amanda! π Hehe! Kindles make it so much easier to read them in front of others. π
Kate @ Green Fashionista says
That cake looks delish! Glad you got to spend time with your nieces π
Kerry says
It was really indulgent but so good!! They are such personalities it is always fun seeing them grow.
Em says
I was sooo happy to get a ton of reading done too!! And oh man that cover art! Hehe. Looks like you had a great weekend!! I have a 10k coming up too!
Kerry says
Hahaha! It is eye catching for sure! π When is your race? Right now I am just virtually training.
Leeann @ Join the Gossip says
You say it was boring…yet it was still way more active than mine bahaha!
Important question…is he grabbing his junk on the cover of that book?! LOL I had to!
OK if you had to give me one rec for a entertaining plane read, wat would it be? π
Thanks for linking up for MMG!!
Kerry says
Haha! I don’t know how that is possible. It was a lot of sitting around. LOL! No, he is trying to let you sneak a peak! π Hmmm the pressure….. for mystery the Sue Grafton/Kinsey Millhone series or Allison Brennan FBI Trilogy, for romance any book by Lorelei James or Maya Banks.
Krystal says
Is that your niece? So cute! Looks like a nice quiet weekend!
Kerry says
Yes, they are my brother’s daughters. It was perfectly quiet, and much needed!
Kelli says
Weekends spent reading and eating cake are the best kind!
Kerry says
It really was a great weekend! Reading will always been my favorite way to spend my time!
Liz @ Fitness Blondie says
Kerry we need to text and talk books. I know you read a lot and I don’t know if you saw my posts on Instagram over the weekend, but I need some new ideas.
I will tell you, I am reading “Master of the Mountain” and if you’re into a sexy romantic novel with BDSM in it, you will LOVEEE it.
Kerry says
Yes we do! I didn’t see it. My Instagram stops at like 6 hrs and I miss so much. π That does sound good. I’ll send you some suggestions of some I’ve read.
Jessica says
Oh my gosh…Tucker Max!! I read that book a while back. He’s so vile, but so funny.
Kerry says
He is so vile, but it is so funny. His friend SlingBlade cracks me up. He makes fun of himself too which I like, since it shows he knows how stupid he is or has acted. I knew a few guys like that in college for sure.
Kimberlee says
Oh my… that book cover! lol I’d be too distracted to read. Glad you had an awesome weekend! Mine was awesome staring at hot guys too :p
Thanks for supporting MMG!
Kerry says
It helped that mine was an ebook so I couldn’t stare at it too much! Sounds like you had a fabulous weekend!
Terra Heck says
That carrot cake looks delish. I have a stack of books I’m hoping to get read soon. I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell sounds like a book I’d want to read.
Kerry says
Thank you! It was very good. Ohhh what books are you reading? It is really funny, if you don’t mind dirty stupid humor, which I do! π
