I am struggling to even begin to recap this weekend because it really all melded together. I may have relaxad less than I wanted to but I also feel like I got a lot done and still had time to really just sit on the couch and reach, watch TV and multi-task because this is me we are talking about, right?! So let’s just get to it.
Friday: I finished up the book I was reading which was pretty good. It was a YA/College age book. Brinley is the girl who never does anything wrong but struggles with her past due in part to her alcoholic mother, Ryder is the boy who kissed her during a game of truth or dare. It ended with Brinley in the pool and her hating him.
A few years later they meet up again in college and they can’t stay away from each other. Brinley’s best friend has been keeping an eye out for her and one drunken night makes a play for her. Her roomate also helps to shake her life up a little. This was an advanced readers copy but the book is due out tomorrow the 21st, so click on the picture to add it to your Goodreads list or pre-order on Amazon, it’s currently listed at $2.99 for the kindle version.
Saturday: I tried to remember to relax and enjoy the day. Considering I woke up early I needed this mug to remind me. I did get to start a new book though and watching Seamus make faces at me helped.
I did a little bit of laundry, and other chores before heading out to get some cardio. My favorite form of cardio is obviously hiking. It is just so peaceful.
It was perfect timing though because it started to drizzle just as I wwas finishing up. On the way home I headed to the grocery store to pick up some supplies for lunch. I also grabbed The Fault In Our Stars from Redbox. I made Bacon Wrapped Steak, smashed Cauliflower with Chives and Almond milk, and Pan Seared Asparagus. I noticed when putting the movie in that I still haven’t taken the sticker off my t.v., that I’ve had for almost 5 years, and I still haven’t taken it off either! Haha!
After the movie was over I watched a few episode of Friday Night Lights while working on some blogging stuff, like that new Facebook like box in the sidebar. You’re following me there right? 😉
Sunday: I read for a few hours before getting going making a to-do list and getting some stuff done. My spare bedroom took a huge hit when I re-decorated my bedroom, excess furniture, bedding and spare items got tossed in there. So my biggest to-do was cleaning it up and moving items to the basement for storage. Also the big bag on the bed is stuff I am donating, so it was off to Goodwill. I saw the copy of my brothers published stories/poems that he did back in college. So proud. Seamus also always feels the need to rub his face all over the bed which is why I keep the door closed a lot.
After that I headed out for another hike, it really is so beautiful at this course and I try to take new paths every so often to switch it up. My post-workout meal was some Apple pork chops over zoodles, recipe coming tomorrow. The rest of the night was catching up on my DVR, blogging and the Walking Dead!!
Overall it was perfect and though I would have liked to have less on my to-do list and just veg out I think this weekend was a good compromise.
How was your weekend?
Linking up with Leeann from Join the Gossip and Biana from B Loved Boston.
Jodi says
Looks like a good balance of relaxing and getting stuff done. I want to make zoodles!!!
Kerry says
It was a good mix of both. Zoodles are so good. It was pretty easy too.

I love the mug! I need to go hiking…or at least to a park. I always think about it but I’ve been busy on my Saturdays & I usually dedicate my Sundays to football & naps ha.
Kerry says
I don’t usually get to go both days but I really wanted to get them in before the colder weather forces me into the gym instead. Naps are a must!!
Nichole says
I wish I had somewhere as pretty to hike or walk (can’t really “hike” in Florida, lol), but we are close to a trail…unfortunately the view on the end we’re close to is a street, lol.
Kerry says
A trail would be nice though that view doesn’t sound that great! Haha!
Ellesees.blogspot.com says
i loved seeing your scenery on IG! looks like a nie weekend 🙂
Kerry says
It was so beautiful on the hikes. I wish I did a little more relaxing but if I don’t get it done, there is nobody else to do it! 😉
Biana says
Sounds like a perfect weekend and a lot time with nature!! I haven’t been on a hike in a while and now I think I missed the opportunity since it was freezing this weekend!! Both the meals you showed looked amazing – can’t wait for the recipe!! Hope you have a great day!
Kerry says
It was so nice to be outside I know it won’t last much longer. The wind made it even colder. Thank you. It was fun whipping them up, more cooking than I normally do on the weekends for sure.
SMD @ Life According to Steph says
I love that mug!
I like the hiking but am lazy in that I don’t want to drive to it. So bad.
Kerry says
I really need to use it more to remind me. Haha! The driving to it is the easy part, though mine is only 10-15 minutes from my house! 😉
Kristen says
such pretty hiking pictures. that book sounds interesting, and i love the spare bedroom! we have 2 spares that get loaded down with crap whenever we do something to another room, we just put stuff in there ‘for now’ and forget about it lol. hope you get a relaxing do nothing weekend this weekend!
Kerry says
Thank you, it was so pretty with all the trees different colors. It is the same with my office, oh I’ll just file this later and it becomes a dumping ground of receipt to file. Haha! One of these days I will get a do nothing weekend!
Mree says
Great job on the bedroom! Looks fantastic. Great pictures hiking. I so need that mug!! Happy Monday!! Wasn’t it cold this morning??
Kerry says
Thank you. It really needed to be cleaned and organized. That mug is a good reminder, I need it often! 😉 It was brutal and even on Sunday the wind made it really cold. I am not looking forward to Winter.
Courtney B says
You really did accomplish so much!! All the hiking sounds glorious!!
I’m dying to see Fault in Our Stars but I’m worried I won’t be able to stop crying for at least a week after watching it, ha!
Kerry says
It is so beautiful here so it really helps recharge me and give me energy. It cried more watching the movie than I did reading the book!! I guess it made it more “real” feeling. Well worth the tears though.
Lauren says
I didn’t watch The Walking Dead yet so I hope it was good! Once again, you got so much done, you put everyone else to shame… even though our versions of relaxing differ, I am so so glad you were able to get a lot of your kind in 😉
Kerry says
It was really good and freaky too! No spoilers. 😉 Thank you. I really, realy want to just veg on the couch and do nothing but I have a never-ending to-do list that just won’t quit!!
Emily says
Love all your hikinig photos! There really is no where near to me to hike plus Florida is too flat to have any challenges hikes. boo!
Kerry says
Well that is no fun! They need to build some man-made hiking! Haha!
Lynsey @ Eternally Wanderlyn says
How good is the Walking Dead this season?! 🙂 I also love going hiking, but I’ve been way too busy with other stuff to enjoy a good hike. I’m hoping that will change next month.
Kerry says
They are killing it this season!! It is really nice to just get outside especially with the cold weather coming.
Jana @ Jana Says says
Any weekend spent watching FNL is a good one. I need to work my way through the series. Again.
I love all your scenery pictures. I need to get out more and see what we have around here. I’m sure there’s something that’s not horribly ugly.
Kerry says
I know I am starting from the beginning and watching it through. So good. Even just a walk in the neighborhood is good, just getting out and about is nice.
chelsea says
Love that mug!
Kerry says
Thank you. It is a good reminder.
Linda sheridan says
Nice productive relaxing weekend.
I am forever grateful for my current stay -at -home
Status. Have a good week!
Love, SMD’s momma
Kerry says
Thank you. It felt good to get so much done. I really would love to stay home and get more done. Enjoy every minute of it.
Kateri Von Steal says
I love hiking!!!!
Oh – I made Veggie noodles this weekend too! How funny is that? I love the way you plated that meal – so FANCY!
🙂 And yay for cleaning the spare room!
Kerry says
Aren’t they so good! Great minds think alike. Thank you, it was much needed.
Nadine says
Your steak looks delicious! Mmmmmm. Mac totally rubs his face bad body all over everything too. Spreading their scent…..weirdos! haha!
Sounds like you were pretty productive!
Kerry says
Thank you. It was so yummy. That is probably it! They are weird!! It was productive but still very relaxing.
Leeann @ Join the Gossip says
Mmm that dinner looks so good! And the coffee and Seamus so cozy! Maybe if there was pretty scenery it’d inspire me to hike…we’ll just say that haha.
Thanks for linking up!
Kerry says
Thank you. I had it again today. It was so nice to wake up slowly with Seamus staring at me. Hehe! You should go for a hike if you have time, or the rail trail.
Meghan @ Champagne & Suburbs says
You go girl! I actually haven’t been hiking in YEARS. Years. I am dying to go over Thanksgiving. I love that you were able to accomplish, but also relax. Hope you have a great week! xo
Kerry says
Thank you. I couldn’t imagine not being able to hike. It is my happy place. It was a good mix of both! Hope you have a great week!
Amanda says
How do you make your mashed cauliflower? I keep meaning to try some but I always forget! It sounds yummy!
Kerry says
I used frozen so just cooked the cauliflower according to the package then I added a little almond milk and blended in the blender or food processor. Then added in the chives with some garlic salt. Done and done!
Kelli says
I love that you were busy relaxing! Weekends spent doing all the things you love are something special.
Kerry says
I think I don’t know anything but busy anymore! Haha! Being able to spend time outdoors totally makes up for the busy.
Amanda says
Ooo! I love your mug. Excellent. I love how much time you carve out for reading 🙂 Although your book covers always crack me up! haha.
Kerry says
Thank you. I can’t go a day without reading for fun. The romance genre does get a little risque. Hehe!
Heather (@mylittlehea) says
Okay first of all those hikes look gorgeous! Are you driving to these places or are they close enough to get to from your house? Also do you go by yourself? I need to start doing that…just getting out of the house and trying some of the parks and lakes around here. Your guest room looks great!
Kerry says
I drive but they are only on the other side of town so about 10 minutes. I go by myself but I have gone with others too. Kate from Another Clean Slate went there with me once. I love working out outdoors because it feels a lot less like work and more just being. Thank you, i am just thankfully it is finally clean again. Haha!
Liz @ Fitness Blondie says
What a fun weekend, your room is so cute too. I love the light blue bedding. So did you like the book? It sounds good, but maybe a little cheesy?
Kerry says
Thank you. I did like it. It was definitely a YA romance but I liked the characters and the secondary character and would read a follow-up book. Not too cheesy.
Kimberlee says
I can see why hiking is relaxing – gorgeous scenery! You always put me to shame with your reading haha I did finish a book this week so I’m pretty excited about that :p
Thanks for always supporting MMG 🙂
Kerry says
Thank you. It does take my breathe away. You have an excuse with school, I wouldn’t want to read either after studying. I just try to make time everyday to read even if it’s just 5-10 pages.
Stacia says
Did you like the movie The Fault in Our Stars? I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch it yet.
Kerry says
I just watch it last weekend. I really liked it. I cried more watching the movie than reading the book. Totally worth it.
Ashley says
Yay for relaxing on Saturday! The pictures from the hike are beautiful! I wish there were somewhere around here where I would feel safe hiking. I downloaded the first three chapters of The Fault in our Stars, read that and never downloaded the rest.. what I did read was great and I loved the way the author wrote, and I still haven’t seen the movie either. I feel like I only have time to read on vaca.. boo!
Kerry says
Hope you find some trails even if there aren’t many hills. It is so much better working out outdoors. The book was good, but the movie got to me, it gave me all the feels. I try to make time everyday even if it is just 5-10 pages in the morning and before bed but I know life can get hectic.
