Well another weekend gone. I am a little sad it’s over because I got so much done, talk about Spring fever. I can tell it’s Spring because I had the energy of 10,000 men, okay not that many but a lot. I really need to work on my yard so I may have to put the wood projects on hold but we shall see. I love building things. I have a lot of projects in my head to like a new entertainment center, a new buffet/storage for my dining room, and also a pantry. We shall see.
Also I can’t forget today marks the day for Marathon Monday. The 6 mile marker is in my city and I have a few friends running. Hopefully today is a good day for all the runners. Boston Strong!
Friday I picked up all the wood needed for the floating shelves for my office.
Saturday morning after reading I got to putting all the shelves together. This should have gone faster but I kept getting distracted.
I got the stain on and then waited for it to dry. Drinking Sangria and finishing The Girl On The Train made the time go by quickly. Sacrifices. 😉
Sunday the majority of the day was spent in my yard. I started by spraying down my front steps, weeding the front bed, and laying down top soil and mulch. I also raked and cleaned up all the broken branches. Got some tulips ready to be planted, one of my favorite flowers beside the Calla Lily.
After a few hours I took a break to go to Home Goods and grocery shopping. After getting home I cleaned out my grill and did some chores inside while cooking up a burger stuffed with a Chedder Horseradish and bacon cheese spread. First grill of the season.
One of the projects for my office was a reading nook. The chaise I bought is the perfect place for reading and now the shelves are the perfect place for the books I want to read or display. I built these floating shelves using the plans provided by Shanty2Chic. I also popped into Home Goods for a few accessories like the globe, white jar, and blue vase everything else I had already in the room or pulled from another room.
How was your weekend?
What is your favorite flower?

Haha! No. just west of Boston. Thank you. It was a busy weekend. So much to do and only me to do it, so not much of a choice. I either do it or it doesn’t get done! 😉

I love marigolds in the ground – they’re hardy.

I LOVE that reading nook! It looks so good and you decorated it super cute.
Kerry says
It is the perfect spot now for curling up with a book. Thanks!

Let me just say that if my husband or I build shelves, I would not be confident enough to place them right over where my head would be. That means you definitely have skills! Like I told you before, they look awesome! I’m excited to see your next project!
Kerry says
Haha! My friend said the same thing. They are drilled into the studs so they are pretty sturdy and level. Bring on the next project!!

Great job on everything. We sat out on Saturday night until 10 PM! Just gorgeous out. Lunch at Steph’s earlier in the day. Loved seeing the girls. Sunday a busy day starting with a great 3 plus mile hilly walk with my sister Lori and ending with some of my chickens over for dinner! Early to bed and woke up to a monsoon this morning. Warm out, though!! Have a nice, easy week.
Love, SMD’s Momma

Oh those shelves!!! I want to do something like that in our master toilet closet. It’s so small and BLAH in there. Floating shelves, the width of the room, above the toilet would be the PERFECT little addition!! Want to come build some for me?? 😉 haha
Kerry says
That would be the perfect space for it. They Shanty2Chic website has so many plans for shelves I am sure Nick can build some awesome ones. Perfect for storage and display! Haha!
Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis says
Productive weekend! Love how the shelves came out! I would not trust myself with any sort of woodwork project. lol
Kerry says
For sure! They add so much to the room. It is finally coming together after being a messy pile. Haha! Power tools are no joke but I am feeling more confident the more projects I do, though they are all learning pieces. 😉
