Is it really Monday? This weekend flew by, but it was emotional for sure. I am starting the ToneItUp nutrition plan this week so that should be interesting. I have been so focused on Seamus that I have been slacking on my workouts a bit but I am excited to get back at it full force. So this weekend didn’t feel like a weekend but it did go by.
Saturday: I planned to get a lot done on my to-do list so I started early getting some chores done. Cleaning the upstairs, doing laundry and dishes. I put in a hair mask and biore nose strip while cleaning up my office and made a nice breakfast but then I noticed Seamus was not feeling good.
He was whining and lying by the door. He moved to the area by the kitchen and dining room where he never lays and wasn’t really moving much. I tried to check on him and see if something was in his fur but couldn’t find anything. He did cry out when I was touching him a little so I freaked out calmly decided to call the vet and see if we could get an appointment. I bawled told the vet all the symptoms and they asked me to bring him in. Since it is only 15-20 minutes it was a stressful ride over. After looking him over they said that he appeared to have some back pain. They gave him a shot and some pain meds to help.
They told me to carry him if he has to go up stairs and to not do any walking other than to use the bathroom. Poor thing was out of it for the rest of the night, but finally started to move, drink and eat some food. I wanted to keep an eye on him so it was basically a movie day the rest of the night. I did speak to my Mom since she lives in Minnesota to make sure she got the flowers I sent because I wasn’t going to be able to see her on Sunday.
Sunday: I got up early in order to get ready for my niece’s recital. I headed out by 7:30am and brought Seamus to my Dad’s so I could keep an eye on him. My niece was so cute and one dance was a puppy poodle part that was just too cute. I was an idiot and left my camera in my car so I didn’t get many pics. Bummer. We went out to lunch after at this really cute Irish pub and the food was amazing.
I was glad to be able to spend the day with my Dad since he really was my Mom growing up. I always get him a card on Mother’s Day and a gift. I also stopped at my second Mom’s house too to bring her a card. Growing up one house away she always brought me into her family and I am forever grateful.
After getting back to my Dad’s and letting Seamus out I decided to head back home and give Seamus some time to relax.
All in all I am exhausted from the weekend but so very grateful that Seamus is okay and I got to spend time with my family. I also got some home Barre videos that I am excited to try too.
How was your weekend? Did you get to spend Mother’s Day with your Mother?

Sounds like you were very busy! I got to relax this weekend which was so nice although I didn’t get to see my Mom in New Jersey 🙁
Kerry says
Relaxing weekends are the best especially with good weather. Sorry you didn’t get to see your Mom! 🙁
SMD @ Life According to Steph says
I’m glad Seamus is feeling better. I get so anxious when something is wrong with one of my dogs, because they can’t talk and you want to help but never know if it’s the right thing.
It’s awesome that you get your dad a card and gift.
Kerry says
It is so hard because they can’t tell you what’s wrong. I get to carry him which just means more hugs!!
He was my Mom and Dad growing up so he deserves the recognition!
Kristen says
oh poor Seamus! hope he is all better. i didnt see my mum this weekend, but i just wanted to say i always get her a card + gift for fathers day, as she was definitely both. i did spend it with my MIL though, so theres that.
anywho, hope you have a great week!
Kerry says
Thank you! Single parents rock! They have to be both and when they do it so well you have to give them credit! That is great you got to spend it with your MIL at least. Have a great week!
Ellesees.blogspot.com says
how scary!! so glad he is better. my weekend flew by too! one week and i’ll be resting at the beach!
Kerry says
Thank you! He is on low/no walking and rest but should be better soon. Woohoo everything is better at the beach, hope this week flies by!!
Emily T says
Poor baby! I want updates 🙁 Gracie says, “Feel better, Seamus!”
Kerry says
Thank you! Will do! Had to carry him home this morning it was so sad but extra snuggles for us too!
Linda Sheridan says
Healing lights to Seamus! Worse thing ever for your “kid” to be sick, furry or otherwise. I had a glorious Mother’s day weekend, starting Friday night, which is also my husband’s birthday(mine is 6-19 always around Father’s Day) with my bonus daughter and grandkids and other friends for dinner and birthday cake and wine , a nice party for an old friend of his on Saturday with wine, burgers at Red Robin with my husband and Sean after a hospital visit to my brother-in-law! Sunday was perfect! One of my chickens, Stephen, could not be there- very busy coaching! He will vist tonight, but Steph, Sean, and my adopted daughter Debbie, more wine, then to OCNJ for Sean’s Red Bull game. I love it there second to my own home! I, too, had a second mom growing up. My best friend was kind of an “only” and we were inseparable. It’s nice. God Bless your Dad, your second Mom, and all who were in your life to help to make you the kind, loving, wonderful girl you have become!!
Love, SMD’s MOMMA
Kerry says
Thank you! Sounds like you had an amazing weekend with family and good food! Your post on Steph’s blog was beautiful. Thank you so much for the kind words, they all helped to shape me and I am only the way I am because of their guidance and example.
Sharon says
Oh no, poor Seamus! I hope the shot and pain meds help him feel better. Jinx has been suffering from his seasonal allergies so he’s been mopey the last few days. Hate when the furbabies are sick!
-Sharon
Kerry says
Thank you. They are helping but he still needs to be carried sometimes. I don’t mind though more cuddles for me. Poor Jinx! It is rough when they are sick, feel so helpless. Hope both of ours get better!
Amanda says
Oh my goodness… your niece with that pouty face… I die! Too stinkin’ CUTE! 😀
Kerry says
She is a stubborn one, but I just can’t take that pout seriously since it is just too cute!
Kateri Von Steal says
I spent Mother’s Day with Klay’s mama.
My mom.. well… that’s a story for another day…
I’m sure if you paged through my blog.. you’d find many reasons why I didn’t spend it with her.
I enjoyed my Mother’s Day.. and had a wonderful and fulfilling weekend.
🙂 And your niece is TOTALLY ADORABLE!
Kerry says
We can swap stories! 😉 Sometimes you just have to hug the ones you love regardless of who they are because they were there for you. Glad you made it a memorable day anyways! Thank you, they are both so adorable and full of such personality!
Jana @ The Townhouse Pioneer says
Glad Seamus is doing better. One of my guys is my problem child, complete with heart murmur, allergies, and arthritis and whenever he’s not feeling well I freak out. I’m too high strung for that, especially since he can’t talk. So I totally understand where you’re coming from.
It’s awesome that you get your dad a card and a gift, and I’m glad you had a good weekend!
Kerry says
Thank you. Oh no, poor thing. Me too girl, I was a wreck! It is hard since they can’t tell us when it hurts. He had to play Mom and Dad so he deserves it.
Mree says
Sounds like a very busy weekend. Happy to hear that your doggie is better. He is so cute.
Best, Mree
Kerry says
Thank you! It was bit with a lot of relaxing too so I could keep an eye on him. He is a little cutie, thank you.
Lynsey @ Eternally Wanderlyn says
Oh, no! I hope Seamus is feeling much better. I also had to take Chubby into the vet on Friday. He has an infection around his eye. 🙁
Kerry says
Thank you! Poor Chubby!! (Cute name by the way) Did they put him on antibiotics or the drops?
Janna says
Poor Seamus and poor you! I know how stressful that can be. I hope he feels better quick!
Kerry says
Thank you! I was a wreck but he is at least eating and drinking normally. Carrying him up and down the stairs till he gets better is worth it.
Melanie at Ribbons and Rotor Blades says
Poor Seamus!!!! How is he doing today? I hate when they’re in pain. I especially hate that they can’t talk to tell you what’s wrong or what they need/want to make them more comfortable 🙁 I hope he starts feeling better soon!
Kerry says
He is a little better though I took him for a 5-10 minute walk to do his business and on the way back I had to carry him the rest of thew way down the driveway. 🙁 He got a pain pill after and it seems to be a soreness so he walks around fine otherwise just can’t go far.
Biana says
Poor Seamus…but glad to know you were able to get him feeling better!! can’t wait to see your progress with the TIU plan – i love their workouts!!
Kerry says
Thank you! I am excited to try it! I love their videos and a lot of the plan is what I normally eat when eating clean so it is not too out there which makes it easier to adjust. The morning drink takes a little getting used to.
Nadine says
Awe, poor Seamus!!! It is so scary when our furbabies don’t feel right because you can’t ask them what is wrong. I hope that he is feeling better and back to new ASAP!!!
Kerry says
It is so scary and I could just tell he wasn’t feeling right. I mean in the car he didn’t bark or put his head out the window!! Thank you.
tori says
Poor Seamus! I hope he feels better soon. Those nieces of yours are too cute for words!
Kerry says
Thank you. I hope so. Aren’t they just full of spunk! Love them so much.
brittney says
I hope your dog is feeling better 🙁
Kerry says
It will take some time but he is comfortable so that is good. Thank you.
Amanda Elizabeth says
Which videos did you get?????? I’m glad Seamus is feeling a little better that is so scary when the babies aren’t feeling well!!!
Kerry says
I got Exhale: Core Fusion 30 Day Sculpt with Elizabeth Halfpapp. I got the Barre for Beginners too from the same series. It was so scary and i was a mess. I am glad he has meds to help with the pain since he can’t tell me.
Hope says
Poor Seamus and poor Seamus’s mother. 🙁 Sick babies are the worst. My Gracie had another seizure on Friday. My GF and I were on stayacation working around the house all last week and she got spoiled having us both around. I went shopping for a few hours with a friend and while I was gone a few people stopped by to help Beej with some things. She must have gotten overexcited and combined with me being gone… The guilt kills me. She’s recovered ok, but every time she has one, she just seems a little bit weaker. Still though, she is eating and happy to see us, doesn’t appear to be in pain, so we motor on. Hope Seamus keeps improving, I’ll be thinking of him!!
Kerry says
Oh poor Gracie, I am sure it was a combination of it all. Glad she is eating and recovering. Thank you so much for thinking of Seamus. Hoping it is just a soreness that will go away soon. I’ll be thinking healing thoughts for Gracie.
Lauren says
Poor Seamus and poor you! I hope he’s doing okay! I did see my mom for mother’s day, but it was nothing too blogworthy. Everyone went swimming for the most part but I hate water and the sun so I stayed fully clothed in the shade 🙂
Kerry says
Thank you. I was a mess, but Seamus was a champ. No water, no sun?! What do you do in the middle of Summer in Texas?!
Meg says
Aww I love that you were able to spend the weekend with your dad and family! My best friend always gets her dad on Mother’s Day and he LOVES when she changes a photo of them on Mother’s Day! haha Your niece looks so cute in her costume!
Kerry says
That is so cute that she does that for him. It is hard for single parents, they deserve the recognition. I did send my Mom flowers, chocolate and a card and talked to her for hours but I didn’t get to spend it with her. She was so excited and she did really well in the recital. Thank you!
Kelli says
Poor Seamus, so glad he’s feeling better! I feel the same way about my mom on Mother’s Day, now that Tyson and I have Little K it’s weird doing things for Father’s Day.
Kerry says
Thank you. It is fun though just being able to show them a little extra love. I remember once my brother and I set up a fake cafe in the kitchen with curtains and a menu and made him what I am sure where horrible toast, eggs and bacon but my Dad really loved it. The thought is all that matters.
Keri says
I didn’t get to spend the weekend with my mother, since she’s across the country. But since I’ve got two little boys- I got to celebrate with them 🙂 Hope Seamus is OK!
Kerry says
It is so tough when they are far away but just talking to them and showing them you care make all the difference. Glad the boys showed you some love!
Kate says
My mom was basking in the sun in Florida so I had a relaxing day of my own. So sweet you always celebrate your dad on Mother’s Day!
Kerry says
Sounds like she had a relaxing day! He really deserves it for everything he put up with from me! 😉
Emily says
Poor Seamus! Hope he is feeling much better!
Kerry says
Thank you! Hopefully soon! He breaks my heart when he looks at me with those sad eyes.
Jessica Gardner says
awe hope the baby is doing much better today!! Too funny, I always got my dad a gift and card too on mother’s day growing up. They sure are the best!! Sounds like a good weekend though.
Happy Monday
Kerry says
Thank you, he is starting to act normal but it may take awhile to feel completely better. I was so blessed to have him so I always thought it was important to celebrate him. They are the best! Happy Monday!
Lex says
your little niece is so darn cute! so great that you spent time with the family this weekend. sounds busy but wonderful!
Kerry says
Thank you! She is so full of personality too. It was bus but wonderful! Hope you had a great weekend!
Stephanie says
Awww Seamus 🙁 I hope he’s better today, that’s so sad. I hate that they can’t tell you what’s wrong!
Kerry says
Thank you! He does seem better but I think it will just take time. I think it’s like a pulled muscle type of thing, it’s sore and it just needs to heal. It is so hard seeing him struggle but he is so sweet about it too.
kathy@vodka and soda says
i hope seamus is ok/getting better! did they ever find out what was causing the back pain?
i just got back from miami yesterday and i’m tired!
Kerry says
Thank you. He is slowly getting better. They said he could have fallen, tweaked it or my million mile march! Poor thing. I bet you will be recovering for a few days! Rest up girl!
Liz @ Fitness Blondie says
Did the vet give any explanation for what is going on? Just that it is back pain? What caused it?
Kerry says
Just back pain, he could have slipped on the stairs on just pulled a muscle. It could have been the walks were too long. Nothing really just that time would take care of it and if not to go back.
Nichole C says
Awww, I feel so bad for Seamus, and you too mommy. I’d have been a wreck, for sure
Kerry says
It was a very stressful and emotional day for sure! He is finally coming around a bit.
Kimberlee VDW (@KimberleeVDW) says
Aw we can’t forget the dads. Hope your week gets better 🙂 Thanks for supporting MMG!
Kerry says
That’s Right! 😉 Thank you, Seamus is feeling better to it is much better!
Mandy says
I’m glad Seamus is ok! I would be freaking out if my pups were acting like that. Good luck with TIU, I tried it for a little while!
Kerry says
Thank you! It will take time but he moves better each day! Why did you stop?
Leeann @ Join the Gossip says
Oh no, poor Seamus. When dogs/pets are sick it’s so scary because they can’t tell us what’s wrong. That helpless feeling is the worst! Glad he’s feeling better and you were able to spend time with family Sunday.
Thanks for linking up for MMG 🙂
Kerry says
Thank you! It was so scary and I was a wreck. He is getting better though thankfully!
