So I want to say I was really strict with myself and I really paid attention to every dime I was spending but to be honest I totally forgot about the wallet watch more than a few times. I did have one stressful week and ended up finding myself at Old Navy and totally blowing my clothing ban. i really needed warm clothes but it was still on my no spend list.
A reminder of my Goals:
Save $300.00 to be added to saving to be used towards Christmas. I only use cash for Christmas so time to save.
Stay with budget for my grocery bill – recipe testing kills my budget every month so I want to work on this one.
No spending on clothes, makeup or accessories.
So how did I do?
I was able to put $300 into savings. I would have liked more but I will add more in November to beef it up. I also bought 5 gifts already so that factors into spending less later. WIN

No spending on clothes, makeup or accessories. Bwahahahaha! Like I said I totally stressed shopped at Old Navy but I got some really cute cardigans and a Mint scarf that I adore. You win some you lose some. This one I am totally okay with losing. FAIL
Linking up with Steph for my results.
Have you started Christmas Shopping?
Have you done a wallet watch before to save money?

since my vacay, i haven’t been spending except on things i need. believe me, when you get those 50% off coupons and shizz via email, it makes it damn hard but i bypassed them and stayed strong. i’ll def be doing another wallet watch hardcore in january after i’m broke from christmas shopping!
Those are the hardest to resist because you know you are getting a good deal. Haha! Yes, I am trying to scale back until the end of the year because I know oil heat will be needed then so I need to save for that too. Why is everything so dang expensive.
It’s hard to keep to a budget, especially when cute ON clothes are on the line, but it sounds like you did great. I also only use cash for Christmas…well, I use my points credit card and pay the bill immediately so I’m not charged interest, and I keep my points….a win-win.
It was so hard to resist, okay not really hard since I bought it all!!! That is a total win-win.
november is my spending freeze. so far, so good since it’s only day 5! ha!! no xmas shopping done either.
Haha! You can do it!!! I am trying to watch my spending for the rest of the year to cover Xmas and oil heating. Get on it girl! 😉
The grocery part is the most impressive!! We have a monthly budget too and we do alright most of the weeks, but for some reason it’s always the last weekend of the month that makes us go over LOL!! Great job with the saving girl!
It is so hard, and usually where I overspend every month. Thank you so much!
You did awesome with your groceries– that’s always where we fail and somehow end up spending more than I anticipate. And it sounds like you got some great things from Old Navy- it’s not like you went totally crazy every week, so i think that’s definitely pretty close to a win too 🙂
It was hard but I tried not to buy more than I could safely eat that week. It was a struggle though. It was much needed but it wasn’t planned.
When you like to try new things like we do in the kitchen, it’s hard to stay on budget because it can mean buying things that are not on sale in order to make what we want to make. That’s a major win for you.
And you can’t argue with the cash for Christmas! Great job! I used all cash this year and it’s nice to know no bills are coming.
Yes, the food part is so tough. I try to use what I have but some ingredients are a must. Having a huge bill after Christmas makes stomach lurch so cash is best.
Great job saving!! I have been trying to stick to a budget but it’s so hard. I’m pretty good with sticking to a budget for Christmas (and only pay cash) plus I try to get all my shopping done before Thanksgiving. I haven’t even started yet this year.
Thank you. It can be really hard. Target is usually my weakness and DIY projects. Only paying cash is so much better because you can see when you are getting close to going over. You still have time just start a little bit every week and it will be done before you know it.
I want/need to start Christmas shopping ASAP but so far…. nada. Hoping to do a lot online this year so hopefully that will reduce my stress (though it will still hurt the bank account, ouch!). I love the things at Old Navy right now but they are just not fitting me right. So sad!
Online shopping will make it so much easier. Black Friday will make it so much easier. Knock it out in one day. It always hurts the bank account, that is why I start saving early to lessen the blow. That is a bummer. It can be so yay or nay for me too.
Definitely no Christmas shopping done yet. Or Hanukkah shopping. I don’t even know what to get anyone except for my daughter and honestly, even that is becoming a problem.
You ROCKED the challenge!! And Old Navy is always a budget killer for me, too. It’s why I don’t go.
It is so hard shopping for others. Now for myself I am a champ at that but others is hard. Old navy has been killing it lately but I am going to try and stay out of it too, totally just want to buy it all.
it’s so hard not to spend money on clothes! i struggle everyday!
It was so hard to say no but the cardigans were so worth it with how cold it gets here.
Wow, you rocked this Wallet Watch! I didn’t do well at all due to things out of my control, but hope to have a No Spend November to make up for it. I haven’t even begun to do Christmas shopping yet- eek!
Thank you. It was a struggle at times not to buy makeup but glad I made most of my goals. You can do it! With the holidays coming up every little bit counts.
I think my wardrobe overhaul is going to turn into stress shopping…. sighs…
I think you putting $300 in savings is wonderful. Good for you. That’s more than you had last month in there. Just keep going!
It was much needed, and so worth it! Ha! Exactly and it will cover a good portion of my X-mas shopping.
Sometimes you just have to have a little retail therapy, I know I do!
I totally needed some warm clothes but it was worth the therapy!
I love meeting goals – especially budget goals! It is true, experimenting in the kitchen gets kinda costly – and time consuming.
I bought a hoody before we went outta town last weekend and I didn’t want to spend it but I need a warmer hoody. I am used to AZ weather but also a snowboarder so the thing stuff wasn’t cutting it.
It can really wrack up if you don’t have a lot of the ingredients. I tried to make things I had most of the ingredients already but some times that just isn’t possible. Warm is always good when snowboarding, I consider that a need!!
hahaha I love that you totally own the ON fail. Whatever, sometimes it happens and it’s necessary!
Haha! It was what it was, a total fail!!! Bewahaha! At the time it felt totally necessary, and I really did need new cold weather clothes but it was total emotional purchase.
hey two wins is pretty awesome in my book! i think with these kind of ‘wallet watches’ even if i don’t meet my goals it makes me think about shopping a little bit more and make better purchases.
So true I think just being more aware of what you are spending makes a huge difference.
Well now I want to go to Old Navy. Dammit. hahahahaha
They are really stepping it up lately. They go in cycles for me but lately I’m loving them.
Seriously why are all the good sales in November???????
It is really killing my budget!
It’s so tough to budget! Something always gets me.
There is always one or two things that can totally kill your budget.
hahaha I totally failed at not buying clothes and things too. womp womp!
That is so hard to do when you need a new wardrobe! Ooops.
Just when I think I’m doing better… BAM! Something happens… Awesome for you for two wins! 🙂
It always seems to happen! The Old Navy was such good therapy though! 😉
two things – cash for christmas is the best idea!! and i never ever stay on budget for groceries 🙁
It really is the only way for me or I will overspend. Groceries are the hardest for me too, especially with recipe testing.
Winning in two categories is still really good! Besides, if you needed winter clothes you probably would have spent that money later on, right? 😉
Very true! Now or later it was needed. 😉
