Girl I Must Warn You – Now You Know!

Happy Friday! After sleeping on the couch for the last four night I am looking forward to this weekend, and sleeping in my bed. Seamus is on the mend. He made it through yesterday with no accidents so hoping the antibiotics for his UTI is now in his system. My poor baby peed in the bathroom then squeezed in next to me with those puppy sad eyes. Totally not his fault, it broke my heart. He is the best puppy ever!

So in order to kick off this weekend and make this work day go by a little quicker I am linking up with Whitney of  I Wore Yoga Pants to Work, for Backthatazzup Friday!

Who said the 90’s never taught you anything…Never trust a big butt and a smile! That is all! Peace out!

SPD – Picture Frame Memo Board

Woohoo! Saw It. Pinned It. Did It is back baby! For this project I had just about everything on hand. I only had to purchase the cork board. So this project was just under $5.00. I was so excited to finally use this picture frame since it has been hiding in my coat closet for a little over 3 years. The picture slots are just under 4×6 so it was hard to get the pictures to not look off when having to cut them down. The fabric was leftover from when I sewed a makeup bag.

Supplies:

Picture frame with hooks Similar item: Here, here, here and here

Cork Board (I got a package of 4 at Walmart, but could find at craft stores)

Fabric (2 Fat Quarters of fabric should do the trick) Purchased mine through Etsy Shop Ooh La La French Word In Cream and Fleur De Lis in Pink

Glue Gun

Box cutter/Razor, Rotary cutter, or scissors (Do not use a staple gun – it will go right through the cork, lesson learned)

Directions:

1. Remove the backing and glass.

2. Trace the glass onto the cork board – 3 times

3. Cut out the cork board

4.Cut fabric using the cork cutouts as a guide leave about 1/4″ around to allow to glue (If using patterned fabric make sure fabric is in the correct direction)

5. Glue the fabric to the cork board – cut any excess fabric

6. Place cork boards into the picture frame, replace back cover and hang.

PIN THIS

I used this in my craft room but you could also use this in a kitchen. Imagine pinning up recipes you are cooking, menu plan, or a grocery list. The hooks could hold teaspoons, ladles, towels. It could also be using in an office. Where would you use this project?

Puppy Love – Thoughts and Prayers requested

I interrupt my regulary scheduled post to ask for thoughts and prayers for Seamus my Pomeranian/Sheltland Sheepdog mix pup. I think he has a UTI but it seems to have gotten worse not better so off to the Vet we go. Hopefully it is a simple trip to the Vet with some antibiotics but you never can tell.

Until then Seamus in all his adorable glory!

Taste of Tuesdays – Brussel Sprout Pineapple Salad

One of my goals for the year was to try 6 new foods. I am not the most adventurous eater which is putting it mildly. However I have tried 3 (chickpeas, zucchini, and Brussel sprouts) this year after making this salad. After seeing it on That Fit Chic’s blog I knew it was something I was willing to try even though Brussel sprouts seem to be that love or hate veggie.

Brussel Sprout Pineapple Salad

Ingredients: Brussel Sprouts (one bag) ~ 3-5 slices of cooked bacon ~ 1/4 cup of walnuts (or nut of choice) ~ 1/4 cup of feta ~ 4-5 cubes of pineapple ~

Chop the Brussel sprout stem and slice. Chop the bacon, walnuts and the pineapple. Mix and add your favorite dressing. Since this is my first time trying Brussel sprouts I am not sure how it should taste however it was a little dry and really crisp. I may blanch or steam them a little bit to loosen it up a little or mix this in with a little romaine. Again since I am a newbie with this veggie it may be normal for most, it is a cabbage so you may be used to it. Either way I did like it and will be adding this to me list of healthy sides.

P.S. I had this as a side to my dinner on Sunday and then for lunch with Chicken on Monday. I will say I like it much better the second day. I think the texture was just something I had to get over. It is a good substitute for lettuce when trying to venture further out of your comfort zone. Give it a try!

UTI, Wedding Hoopla and Cinco de Mayo

My poor puppy Seamus has a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) I didn’t realize this could happen with boy dogs, but I guess it can. He is eight years old and doesn’t pee in the house. On Friday he tinkled 3 times after already going out three times. I felt awful, I knew something was wrong and it wasn’t his fault. He looked so guilty though.

So I spent Friday night in, snuggling with him and letting him outside often. I mixed some cranberry juice in with his water which is supposed to help. So far so good. I think he enjoyed the movie This Is 40, I think he could really relate, he is 49 or so in dog years.

Saturday lead to running around trying to find a dress for my Sister-in-law’s sisters wedding (that is a mouth full) that night. Also let me just say the more time I have to get ready, the more I procrastinate. I ended up leaving later than I thought and freaking out the whole time I was driving to the Cape afraid I would be late. It was an hour and a half ride but I luckily made time and got there 15 minutes before the ceremony started. (I may or may not have been driving 80 mph the whole way)

Sunday is all about cleaning, errands, meal prep, and relaxing when possible. I left my cheat meal for Sunday in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. It was super yummy. I did get a good workout in to help stave off some of the calories.
