The thing that I love about Beer Bread is that it is less tricky that a yeast based bread. You don’t have the long wait times that you do with a yeast bread, and you can normally bake right away. This is a great starter bread for those just getting into bread making. It really can be modified to add so many different flavors. I have done an Herb Beer Bread before and this is my second attempt.
Topping: 1/3 Cup packed light brown sugar ~ 1 Tbsp Cinnamon
Directions: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a loaf pan with Pam cooking spray or butter. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, honey (Warm the honey in the microwave for about 20 seconds so its easier to stir in), and cinnamon. Stir in the beer until it can form a ball. Don’t overdo it it really should only take a minute or so to incorporate all the ingredients.
Pour half the melted butter into the loaf pan. Then spoon the batter into the pan, and pour the rest of the butter on top of the batter. Mix the topping ingredients and set aside.
- 3 cups all-purpose flour ~ ¼ cup of brown sugar ~ 1 Tbsp. baking powder ~1 tsp. salt ~ 1 Tbsp Cinnamon ~ 1 Tbsp. honey ~ 1 (12oz) bottle beer (I used Angry Orchard's Crisp Apple) ~ 1 Stick of Butter, melted
- Topping:
- ⅓ Cup packed light brown sugar ~ 1 Tbsp Cinnamon
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Don't overdo it it really should only take a minute or so to incorporate all the ingredients.
- Pour half the melted butter into the loaf pan. Then spoon the batter into the pan, and pour the rest of the butter on top of the batter. Mix the topping ingredients and set aside.
- Bake for 45 minutes, remove and add the topping mix and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Serve immediately.
- I served with
- Brown Sugar and Cinnamon Butter
- , but an apple butter or jam would be good too.

Wonderful recipe. I can’t wait to try it! I do not have the patience to bake with yeast. This is perfect and the only way I like
beer- in recipes!!! Thanks for sharing!
Have a happy day!
Love, SMD’s Momma

Thank you. Yeast bread can be time consuming depending on the type of bread so beer bread is the way to go.
Amanda says
Definitely saving this for later! Looks and sounds so good!
Kerry says
Thank you! Hope you like it!
kathy@vodka and soda says
oh, YUM. i’ve been making a lot of breads/loaves lately because the stuff in the stores is shit. i was telling SMD that i had a loaf of bread lying around (grocery-bought) for THREE WEEKS and it didn’t even mold! so now i’m making my own bread that goes bad in a week.
Kerry says
Three weeks?! That’s not good! I don’t eat a ton of bread but homemade is always better for you!

Another delicious looking recipe! I’ve never heard of beer bread before, but this does seem way easier than using yeast. I tried to make a cinnamon roll recipe that required yeast and the dough never rose and it was such a major disappointment- I’ve not bothered with anything like it again!
Kerry says
Don’t give up on yeast bread! Try a heating pad if the bread isn’t rising before baking. Beer bread is much easier though!
Biana says
Oh my gosh this looks amazing!! I can’t even wait to try this – better yet, if you have some left over can you just send it my way!? 🙂
Kerry says
Thank you!! Leftovers?! What does that mean?! 😉

Angry Orchard in bread? Yeah, I will have to try that!! What a great recipe!

Thank you! You get a little of the apple flavor which is really nice!

If only I wasn’t watching my carb intake…. looks so good!! I will have to save this for the holidays!
Kerry says
Thank you. It would be perfect for a holiday!

I think beer bread comes out better than a lot of yeast breads too. That looks good!
Kerry says
It really can taste better than a lot of yeast breads and can sometimes be even softer depending on the beer used.

These sounds amazing! You always post about the most delicious things!
Kerry says
Thank you!! I try at least. I only really cook once a week, so it’s gotta be worth it. 😉

Thanks, girl! You are making me blush!
Kristen says
beer bread?! yum!! my husband would love this. i have never made bread before, i wonder if this would work with GF flour, but then the beer wouldn’t be GF… gah
Kerry says
I think the beer would ruin the gluten free part of it. 🙁
Brianne Bracco says
Now this would be a HUGE hit in our house! A must try for sure 🙂
Kerry says
Thank you. I hope you give it a try!

Kate @ Green Fashionista says
Holy YUM perfect for fall!!! I actually prefer beer bread over regular homemade bread 🙂
Kerry says
It really had a lot of the flavors. The Apple Cider Beer really helped too though any light beer would work.
Kim says
I love beer bread and this recipe looks awesome!!! I used to think that beer bread could only be made with a mix – the first time I made it “homemade” I was surprised at how easy it was.
Kerry says
It really doesn’t require a lot of ingredients and the beer does all the work. So much better homemade.
Kelly (@KRod0519) says
This looks delicious! And easy…a win-win. Yum!
Kerry says
Easy is always best. Thank you.
Nadine says
O. M. G. Just stop with your beer bread. This looks delicious!!!!!! And apple butter with it? YUM! I accept deliveries of all the foods. 😉
Kerry says
Thank you!! Yes, apple butter would be really good.
Amanda Elizabeth says
That looks so deadly! I probably would have eaten that all in one sitting!
Kerry says
It was really hard not to, I figured it was all in the name of recipe tasting to have a few pieces. Hehe!
Amanda says
This sounds so good… and I’m not even a beer drinker! I like the Angry Orchard twist!
Kerry says
The beer is just for the yeast you don’t get a beer taste to it.The Angry Orchard does add a nice light apple flavor.
Emily says
I’ve yet to experiment making any type of bread so this would be a good one to try off the bat. Looks delish and love the addition of apple cider beer and honey for the flavor.
Kerry says
It is much easier to try than a yeast bread. Good way to get started in breads.
Jayda says
This looks amazing!! The brown sugar and cinnamon butter looks really good too!
Kerry says
Thank you. The butter totally adds to it.
Mree says
OOH that looks so good! Thanks for posting the recipe.
Kerry says
Very welcome. Hope you try it out!
Tricia Coniglio says
This looks amazing and I LOVE apple butter! It looked weird watching the beer pouring into the batter… it’s like an oxy moron because the beer is usually tart yet flavored breads are usually sweet.
Kerry says
Thank you. It is fun watching it bubble. It is funny because it should be tart but it burns off a lot and you mostly taste the apple and cinnamon flavors.
Lara says
I can’t even, that seriously looks amazing!
Kerry says
Thank you so much! The topping was the best part! 🙂
