Just A Little Kiss | Book Tour | Review | Excerpt | Giveaway

Just A Little Kiss is the third book in this series by Renita Pizzitola, I also read Just A Little Crush and  Just A Little Flirt.  I wasn’t going to turn down the third book since I wanted to know what happened to Mason.

I was contacted by the publisher to get a free copy of the third book in the series as well as to do a book stop I jumped at the chance. The publisher was also kind enough to host a giveaway for Flirt and Loveswept mugs and multiple eBooks. Checkout the giveaway at the end of the post. Hope you give this book a chance, I know I’ve found a new author I enjoy.

My Review: Felicity has felt like she is going to be stuck in the small town fishing community she grew up in forever. She wants to move out but she is not really sure what she wants to do with her life, since her breakup with her ex. She only dates Summer Boys because she doesn’t want anyone holding her into staying in town.

Mason is in town for the summer to help his Uncle with the fishing season after he injured his shoulder. He is not a fan of boats or getting up early so this just might be a challenge. Felicity appears to be his new neighbor and helps him with a family remedy, making Mason think that it just might be worthy sticking around for the rest of the summer.

The two hit it off and have quick and fun banter. Mason pushes Felicity to dream of the future and make her dreams a reality. Felicity helps Mason get over the girl he once thought he was in love with, and seeing a possible future together. I really liked how these two complimented each other, went through real life struggles of finding oneself and moving towards a dream.

Excerpt:

“Hey, there.”

I spun at the sound of a girl’s voice. Not overly loud but way too chipper for—what time was it? Two, maybe three in the morning? Who the hell was even up at this time, besides me?

I squinted, trying to make out the approaching figure. “Hey, uh . . . I didn’t realize anyone else was out here.”

Her silhouette slowly came into view on the neighboring boat. She tucked her hair behind her ear but it did nothing to tame the waves tumbling over her shoulders. And it hit me . . . I knew that hair. I knew that body. Hell, I’d even memorized the face to go with it. God knows I’d spent enough time staring at it this afternoon. I cleared my throat then said, “You’re—”

“Colby’s friend.” Her words came out too quick, almost nervous, then she added, “And from the restaurant.”

Yep, I knew exactly who she was, and I’d also committed her name to memory in hopes of getting just this chance. “Felicity,” I said.

It was too dark to make out the subtle features of her face, but I was pretty sure a smile appeared, which almost helped me forget about my stomach being so wrecked.

What was she doing out here? Not that I minded the surprise visit, but it was the middle of the night, so did that mean . . . “Do you live out here? On a boat?”

“Yeah.” She shifted and tucked her hair back in another failed attempt to manage a curl. The slight shift brought her into better view under the pier lighting. And it was confirmed. Her lips were curved into a sweet smile.

I felt my own mouth twitch up, mirroring her expression, despite the headache from hell and my lingering desire to jump overboard.

“This is my family’s boat.” She semi-shrugged, “But sleeping on the water takes some getting used to.”

I shook my head, convinced I wasn’t cut out for life on the water. “Not sure I ever will. I’m ready to crash in my car at this point. The worst part is I’m supposed to be up in a few hours to head out there.” I nodded toward the ocean.

She glanced at the water then back at me. “I couldn’t sleep either . . . I was out here and, well . . . I hope you don’t mind the intrusion.” She stammered over her words then lifted her hand that was holding something. A bottle? “I have this old family recipe for motion sickness,” she went on. “It really helps if you want to give it a try.”

She probably thought I was such a wuss for not being able to handle a night on the water but, hell, I wasn’t too proud to accept whatever cure I could find. “I’ll try anything.”

She smiled. “Hang on, I’ll walk it over.”

“I can grab it.” I climbed over the boat railing then stepped onto the wooden pier separating us and forced my feet to steady. Going from rocking to firm land actually made me feel worse.

I took a deep breath then walked the few steps across the pier to her boat, trying to find my bearings again. The phantom rocking slowly subsided, and I relaxed a bit.

“Here you go.” She handed me a small glass bottle.

“What do I do with it?” I held it in the light of the pier. Oil sloshed around the sidewall.

“You rub a little behind your ears.” She gestured to the soft spot right above her jaw, and my gaze tracked her finger then slowly drifted down her neck.

I could think of a few other ways to take my mind off motion sickness. Of course, none of those would help with the fact that I needed to be ready to work in a few hours. Fuck. And with that little reality check, I twisted the cap off the vial and sniffed the contents. It was minty but also kind of sweet. “Smells good. What’s in it? Or is it a secret recipe?”

She smiled. “It’s lavender, peppermint and some other stuff I can’t remember.”

“And I put it on like this?” I capped the bottle with my index finger, flipped it upside down then rubbed the oil behind my ear. “Or are you totally screwing with me?” I teased. “Because this does smell a bit like perfume, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the guys put you up to this.”

With a laugh, she shook her head. “I promise it’s to help. But I wouldn’t put it past those guys to mess with the newbie, so keep your guard up.”

I recapped the bottle and reached to hand it back.

“Keep it. You’ll need it out there.”

“Thanks.” I sighed at the reminder. “Can’t really pretend I’m excited about that. How long before it works?”

“Not long. Of course, it’s better if you use it as a preventative, so you may want to put it on again before you head out.”

I shoved the bottle into the pocket of my shorts. “I have no idea why I agreed to this. I’m going to get eaten alive out there,” I muttered, more to myself than anything else.

“Is this your first time working on a charter boat?”

I glanced back at her. “Uh, I’ve been deep-sea fishing twice in my life. Last time was three years ago. I have no clue what I’m doing.”

“Well . . . it’s nice of you to help your uncle.”

Help my uncle. Yeah. That made my reasons seem much less personal and a whole lot more selfless, although . . . “After tomorrow, he may decide I’m not much help.”

Felicity smiled. “It won’t be that bad. The crew’s friendly, and I’m sure they’ll appreciate the help either way.”

I fought back a grin. “So are you always this nice? Because we both know I’m a liability out there.”

“It’s all the waitressing, I guess.”

She was killing me with that smile. And maybe it was mind over matter, but my nausea also seemed to be subsiding, and the headache was more of a dull pressure along my forehead. Now if only I had something to look forward to after my first day of work . . . “If I survive out there, maybe you can join me in a celebratory drink.”

“You’ll survive.”

“So is that a yes?”

She paused, her lips parted slightly as if I’d completely caught her off guard with my invitation. So I asked again, “Join me for a drink?”

“Um . . . sure.”

I cocked a grin, happy to have gotten at least one shot at her, and patted my pocket as I backed across the pier. “Thanks for the family remedy.” I hopped over the railing of my boat. “And if the guys don’t throw me overboard, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

She turned, but paused and glanced back. “Hey, Mason?”

“Yeah.”

“How long are you in town?”

“Six weeks.”

“It’ll be nice having a neighbor for the summer.”

Birthday Hangover

Well this weekend was a whirlwind. It was nothing I expected and a little crazy for my taste but it was a good time. My Mom ended up surprising me by flying in for my birthday with my great-niece so I ended up going to my Brother’s house for dinner on Saturday night and staying over. On my actual birthday my extended family came over to his house for a BBQ/reunion. Then Sunday night I got together with the girls and it was exactly what I needed after a long day.

None of my chores, cleaning or prep got done so that will have to wait. I am exhausted and ate like crap so this week will be a detox for sure. So here is a big photo dump.

I Did

Maddie was the baby whisperer. Relaxing night with Daddy watching a movie. Yes, the dog has a princess necklace on. Corrina calls it bedazzling the dog.

I am seriously worried when this one gets her license because she has a need for speed!! Do you see the little one with her hand on the back arm rest, yeah straight chillin’. My birthday cheesecake.

Friday Favorites | Birthday Weekend

Happy Friday! I don’t want to brag or anything but it’s my birthday weekend and it’s also early release Friday. It’s like my work is shutting down in honor of my birthday. No? Maybe? Definitely. Haha!

I am going to keep it short and sweet because work has been crazy so lots to do! Enjoy the weekend!

Favorite Quote: Easier said than done, but worth it!

Quote
Favorite Recipe: This is non-alcoholic but you could always add some Rum or Vodka to kick it up.

Watermelon Layer Drink - Such a cute, summery drink! Would be great for a watermelon themed party or BBQ.

Favorite DIY: I am not sure if I will get to it this weekend but I want to re-do my coffee table. I love that it has a drawer but it isn’t wide enough. My laptop is usually on it and that takes up all the useable space, it also has this unfinished finish. I plan on adding a new top  and possible painting the legs a distressed white color.

Rustic Farmhouse Coffee Table DIY by Rachel Schultz Ooo that's smart! Ooo that's smart. I can see doing this to a kitchen table too. Light bulb!
Favorite Recent Purchase: I recently scored this one from Jane.com, and there are a few left so go get you one. It also comes in a red plaid and a navy plaid color option, and at $26.99 it’s a steal.

Favorite Funnies: As if I didn’t feel bad enough about getting older..

Any fun plans for the weekend?

Birthday Shopping List under $30

My birthday is just 3 days away. I am excited that it falls on the weekend and I get to celebrate with my best friend and second Mom. We are headed to Cheesecake Factory and some low-carb cheesecake will be had for sure.

Something you may not know about me is that I hate to shop. I mean I love buying things don’t get me wrong, but I hate the act of shopping. I would love things to just magically appear in my home, which is part of the reason why I love online shopping. With that being said I made a list of some of the things I would want for my birthday, and they are all under $30.00. Thanks to Steph for mentioning the BookWorm Boutique, it has the best book mugs, prints and shirts.

birthday

Bedtime Mug // 99 Problems Mug // Library Print //

Sailboat Sculpture // Dog Statue //

Elf Matte Lipstick in Wine // Elf blush in Berry Merry //

What would be on your birthday shopping list?

Side note: The whole time writing this post I had the song “You say it’s your birthday, it’s by birthday too” by the Beatles stuck in my head.

Currently

Is it Wednesday already? This week has been a struggle I have felt just off. I think it may be the heat but I am not sure. Either way I am trying to just stay cool and be as low key as I can be until I feel better. Yesterday I got home and immediately laid on the couch for 30 minutes. I started to get a second wind and then headed out to do some birthday shopping. Retail therapy, yes please.

no on to some of the things I have been currently doing…

Reading: I am switching between two books. Just a Little Kiss I am reviewing and sharing an excerpt for next week. It’s a small town girl who wants out and only dates summer boys. Mason is her good friends cousin who is trying to get over a breakup and have a little fun while helping his Uncle with his charter business. Can their love last more than a summer?

reading

In Trust No One a famous crime writer is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s and confesses that his stories from his books are real because he committed the murders. The problem is whether he thinks he did it because his disease or he is just remembering things he’s done.

Struggling With: Working out this week. It has been in the high 80’s with about 90% humidity which just makes me tired and cranky and not want to move.

Buying All The Things:  Itook a trip out to Ulta and Bed Bath and Beyond and scored some birthday items. I don’t wear really much makeup in the summer, usually just bronzer to even out my skin but that is it. I get really tan so finding a bronzer without shimmer is hard, so this NYC option is perfect. It evens my skin without adding anymore color since I am dark enough. Also I love tumblers since I drink a lot of water, and this Turvis one is adorable.

gifts

Feeling: Really tired. Last night after work I got home and immediately laid on the couch. This time of the year is always tough, busy season at work.

Thinking: I want to join a new gym. I have been working out in my basement or outside but soon enough it’s going to be too cold out.

Adoring: This picture of Seamus. This was last night. He usually stares at me before running and jumping on the bed.

Where Did The Weekend Go?

This was one of those weekends where I feel like if I didn’t take pictures I might never remember what I did. The weather didn’t really cooperate either since both days was rainy or really humid.

It’s just one week from my birthday so I am planning all my shopping for next weekend too. I am not a big fan of birthdays but I do love getting to spend it with my friends.

I Did

hair

Saturday I got my hair cut, about 3.5-4 inches off the back, fresh layers and brought bangs back for the fall. Also like some people have pointed out to me, apparently I am really tan.

After some cleaning and ordering some fans from Lowe’s to pickup I headed down to my Dad’s to help clean. He has been having some medical issues and hasn’t been able to do much so I went to help him out.

I was so exhausted when I got home I had one drink compliments from my boss and co-worker who got me some nips and a mug after our last business trip. I passed out on the couch shortly after. Yes, I am a cheap date and a wild one.

weekend
Saturday I did a late brunch and made these low carb blueberry pancakes. I made a larger batch so I can freeze them, so good.

Sunday was rainy and I was feeling really tired so in the morning I got sucked into Steel Magnolias, and How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. I even took a nap, but then went for a walk/run.

It was a nice relaxing night with puppy snuggles and ABC family movies. Bride Wars, and Just Like Heaven were on so how could I resist.

Friday Favorites | Bring on the Weekend!!

So I fully admit that I am not a summer person, I love Spring and Fall because it is nice enough to be outside without sweating profusely but I am not going to be one of those people who start discussing Fall before summer even ends.

I will say however that Pinterest has totally skipped over Fall and went to Winter with a ton of Christmas pins and I can’t say I am mad about it. It is making me want to craft again.

Favorite Quote:

I Owe No Explanations

Favorite Recipe: This Apple Cider Roasted Chicken with Butternut Squash looks and sounds amazing.

Favorite Gift: I am going to go ahead and call this a birthday present. Kate is moving out of stat soon so she was giving away her books. I totally scored with 3 boxes filled. So if you can’t find me I’ll be reading.

books

Favorite DIY: These free printables will be perfect for my De-cluttering project I am going to be starting soon.

Decluttering can be hard, but living with clutter is worse. Sorting through your belongings is a necessary step to creating an organized home, and these free printable labels will help.

Favorite Funnies:

This goes out to my group chat ladies.

Easy Breezy

The other day Emily from Martinis and Bikinis posted a fun list of questions in the spirit of Sisterhood of the World Bloggers and I because my brain is not functioning at full capacity lately I figured it would be fun to answer.

via

1. Why did you start blogging?
I originally started because I moved a little further from my friends and I wanted to connect with people who had similar tastes and share similar hobbies. I love the blogging community and the friends I have made and blogging always introduces me to things before the outside world usually does, which is pretty cool.

2. Who would you want to play you in a movie?
I would love Sandra Bullock to play me in a movie and if she isn’t busy and she wouldn’t mind going brunette than Reese Witherspoon would be a close second.

3. If you could travel anywhere tomorrow where would you go?
I have so many places I want to go Internationally because I have been mostly around the US already but Italy will forever be my first choice. I would also love to get to Australia, Ireland, Greece, and Rome.

4. What is your favorite/least favorite thing about blogging?
My favorite thing about blogging is the community, I have made legit friends I think I will have for a very long time. There are some bloggers I talk to more than my IRL friends. That says a lot too because I am not one who talks on the phone a lot or texts but they keep me anyways.

My least favorite is the amount of time it takes, and the sometimes lack of brain power I have lately to be creative. When life is busy it is hard to keep up with everything. I think every blogger struggles with this at some point or other through the year.

5. Where do you turn when you have writer’s block?
Well I take idea from other people, thanks Emily! Duh. Just kidding. The big sources of inspiration can come from just everyday life. A magazine, a Facebook post, a cookbook, or Pinterest. There is potential posts everywhere you just have to be open to seeing it.

6. What are your favorite kind of posts to read?
I like so many things so I like a variety, book posts are obviously my favorite because I am always reading.

7. Is your hair your natural color?
For the most part. My hair has always been a dark brown and I experimented in high school and college but dark brown is where it shall stay. My Mom went gray at a really young age, so I color to cover it but luckily I only have a few grays and not a full head.

8. What is your favorite decade and why?
Umm this one I guess. I think every decade had it’s challenges and good times but each year we learn more and progress or at least I hope so.

9. Have you dealt with blog drama (mean comments, dramatic people, fake friends)? If so, how did you deal?
Not that I am aware of, for the most part I wouldn’t tolerate it or play into it. Life is too short for that kinda drama. Could it happen without me knowing absolutely, to which I say have at it, I don’t really care.

10. If you could have any job in the world what would you do?
In college I actually wanted to be a medical examiner. Weird I know, but I love puzzles and figuring things out. I used to love watching Dr. G Medical Examiner on the discovery channel a lot. Since I obviously didn’t make that happen, I would prefer to be a professional reader. Reading books all day maybe with a glass of wine would be the life!

———————-

I don’t like tagging others in posts so whoever wants to play along with Sisterhood of the World Bloggers, you can use the questions above and share your answers.

Weekend Warrior

As I sit here trying to remember all I did this weekend I can barely remember it was that much of a whirlwind. My main goal was to get myself caught up on all things after being away on vacation and then almost immediately a work trip. It was also brutally hot both days so it was draining. So it wasn’t really glamourous but I did get a lot done.

I Did

Saturday morning I went into work for 4.5 hours. It was so nice not getting interrupted and being able to get caught up. I also have a game plan for training my second new trainee. I think he is going to be a rockstar, thankfully.

Once I got home I had some lunch and laid out in my zero gravity chair catching some rays and reading my book. I then headed to the local park to walk 5.5 miles.

workout
I had no idea we were expecting thunderstorms and rain but I wanted to head to the mall for some early Birthday presents for myself. It was insane, the rain was whipping so hear visibility was zero at point we were going 5 mph, and a lot of people pulled over. When I got to the mall a lot of spots were flooded. I hit Macy’s, The Body Shop, and H&M. The H&M was new but I didn’t find anything. I wanted to hit Bath and Body but it was closed for renovations. 🙁

shopping
Thanks to Steph for reminding me how long it’s been since I watched Almost Famous, I ended up watching it on NetFlix. So good. Click on the image for 28 fecking cool facts about Almost Famous.

Sunday was pretty relaxed. I went grocery shopping then did a UFC workout while putting a load of laundry in. Then I did meal prep and had lunch.

sunday
My work bestie ended up texting me asking if I wanted to go on a walk with her so we headed to my regular park. I ended up seeing a cute little bunny. We walked a little over 4 miles and it was fun to just chat away!
